Windows 2k install snafu

Well, here goes...
This is my first post so I will try and be as clear as possible.
I have been trying to reinstall Win2k on my other PC and have not been successful. I have partitioned and formatted the hard drive. When I attempt to install my OS, I get all the way to the part where it says I have been successful, then it reboots. When it restarts, there are 2 versions of the same OS that I am asked to pick from before a countdown reaches zero, or it is suggested I can hit F8. Here's the problem: Not only can I not scroll between my choices, I can not hit F8 either. In fact, the only thing I can do is reboot.

Now I have hooked that hard drive up to this machine and checked for errors, defragged, and I've even gone to a site that can supposedly check it for physical errors. By all accounts, there is nothing wrong with the drive, and I can view all data on the drive when it is hooked up to this PC.

There is plenty of memory (26?), plenty of hard drive space, a pentium 3 processor, and has generally been a great machine until it started crapping me out on me a few weeks ago. Any help/suggestions you can provide would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Doug

HERE'S the Latest!

I'm getting th efollowing BSOD:
0x0000007B INACCESSIBLE_BOOT_DEVICE

I don't know if this is ok to post, but you can IM or email me at Woog13@aol.com
(If this is NOT ok to post, let me know and I'll delete it)

Stupid question...but did you remove the CD before you restarted the computer?

And another thing, have you tried installing another OS to see if it causes the same problem...?

What happens when the countdown timer reaches zero?

Posted by: woog13

There is NO countdown. When the page pops up, the counter is already at zero.
Thanks for replying.
