Blurry IE text
(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

I recently had to format my partition with my OS on it and reinstall Windows, and now that I got everything running again, I notice that sometimes bold text is really blurry in IE 6 (attached pic).
I don't really know if I can pinpoint the problem. These are the changes I've made since before the format:
Fresh install of XP Pro
GF2 GTS to a Radeon 8500
DirectX 8.1 to 9.0
Via 4n1 4.22 (I think) to 4.45
I put this in software because I'm hoping there might just be some setting I'm missing. Ideas?

I just noticed something. I'm thinking it only does this with certain colors. The dark green of the OTS boards don't get blurry. Any ideas?

Monitor Drivers?
Corrupted fonts?
Different resolution?
Different color depth?

I've never used the actual monitor drivers. It's always been "plug and play monitor"
How would I go about fixing the fonts if they were the problem?
Same resolution, 1024x768
Same color depth, 32bit

I dunno, it seems it might be more of a font problem or something ... HardOCP uses Arial as their default forum text. OTS uses Verdana. Is HardOCP the only site where this behavior exists?
You might wanna check your browser settings, especially View > Encoding, and make sure it is set at Western European (Windows) or something...

You can try Disabling anti-aliasing.
Anti-aliasing may cause text to appear blurry in comparison to text that is not anti-aliased, just a thought.

Playing around with D3D anti-aliasing does clear it up temporarily, but it goes back to the blurry text if I refresh the page. But like Canis said, it might be a text problem, since the only places I've seen this is hardocp and its sister sites which use the same fonts and color scheme.
I recall reading something about cleartype or truetype during the Windows install. Do you think that would help?

Nevermind, I fixed it. While looking for the cleartype thing, I found an option to disable the 'smooth edges of screen fonts.' Works great now.
Thanks for the help
