How do I set up a network on winxp?

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

My computer, and my wifes computer sitting 15 feet away, both run XP. I want to netwok them so that we can share printers, browse each others' harddrives, and move data between machines through the network. I've got NIC's in both machines, and both connect thru the internet via an 8 port hub, and we're on ADSL.

Thing is, I've never tried to set up a netwok before on XP, had it going on 9X once, but the wizard in XP is annoying, it doesn't accomplish anything for us.

Has anyone here ever done up a detailed "how to" on this?

Thanks,

Daėmon

Microsoft has a pretty detailed how-to guide for home networking with XP:

I have 3 computers in my house, mine, my wife's, and a spare upstairs on the coffee table in the living room. all 3 run XP pro. I have a high speed modem for a connection. The line goes from the modem, to an 8 port hub, and from the hub to each of the 3 computers. (All 3 use the on board NIC on the MB)

I want to set it up so that all three computers can freely browse each others storage drives, mainly MP3's and what not, no need to share the drive that the OS is on...

How do I set up the network, so that all three machines have file and printer sharing? All I hear is that it's super easy on XP, yet I still haven't been able to do it. Would anyone happen to have the time to sorta walk me thru it, or give me a link to a site that already explains it?

Thanks,

Daėmon

Merged the two topics ... Daemon, please don't repost your question, especially when there was already a reply to the first one ...
