Anyone know what the bst PCI vid card out there is?

Either a Radeon 9000 or a GeForce 4 MX

There are two reason that i was wondering.
1. I need a PCI card for a computer that has no AGP port.
2. I was going to mess around with a dual moniture setup. A friend told me that Win 2k will set the PCI card as my primary distplay adapter... This would be bad since i have a grforce 4 card in my AGP slot, ehich would be better than any AGP card i would buy. Is thhis true. I was contiplating buying a raedon 7000... But i wasn't sure if getting like a geforce 2 or 3 would be better...

ok, which is it? you have no agp port or your agp port is occupied by a gf4?

Sorry, i didn't explain that very well... There are 2 PC's
PC 1 - has onboard video... i can't find working drivers for it since its a custom board built for a school and since then the company has gone under.. so i need a PCI video card since it has no AGP port.
While i'm getting a new PCI card i figured that i would mess around with a dual moniter setup in PC 2 with the card i'm buying for PC1, before i put the card in PC1.
PC2 - has an AGP port, this is currently running a Geforce 4 4400. I was going to put the PCI card (to be purchased for PC1) in it to run dual monitures.
I was told by a friend that the PCI card would be the default card and my Geforce 2 would be seconday... Is this right?

This is so confusing man....
OK, did you try driverguide.com for your old integrated video drivers?

even if its a clone I doubt they made there own motherboard. just find out what the motherboard model is and start searching, shouldnt have any problems getting video drivers. as far as which card windows will see as the primary, the setting is in BIOS. usually says something like "init video card first" or "primary video" or something, choices will be pci and agp.

Its a sis 620 chipset, i tried the drivers they had there and they didn't work.... I'll look at the mother board later and see if i can find who actaully made the board..

to find the mobo maker you can check the bios, ami has a prog you can run to determine the manufacturer the others you should be able to find from the number on the bios chip, all else failing you can hunt for the FCCID (best of luck there mfg's hide that pretty well) LOL i wanted to type mfr's there but that could be easily misunderstood :-P

I'm not sure what your friend means by Win2K seeing the PCI slot as the primary.
It is true that Windows 2K and XP will default to the PCI card on a fresh install, but if the drivers for your GF4 are setup properly already, the system should just see the new PCI card as a extra.
Even if it is seen as the primary, you can change this under the "Display Properties" dialog.
It's not to big of a deal really.
One thing to keep in mind, is that when you go to update the drivers on the GF4, the system will most likely boot up using the PCI card as the defualt. You just switch it back and everythings back to normal.
BTW, what brand of GF 4 did you get? If you've got the proper connections, the NView software will allow you to use two monitors off of the GF 4 chipset.

I got the dual view to work, i used a voodoo 3 that i had laying around... To me it was just more bothersome since i have like no desk space with only one screen.
I have a PNY Geforce 4 4000. Aside from the moniture out, it also has svideo and some other kind, not sure what it is off the top of my head....

4000? Never heard of that spec, it's usually 4200, 4400, or 4600 when talking about full fledged GF 4's.
Either way, the other connector is probably a DVI connector. Some video cards come with a DVI to D-sub connector so you can hook up a normal monitor to it.
If you have one of those or can get one, that should allow you to use the dual head off of the one card.
But like you said, desk space is kinda' a premium.
I've actually got my Ti 4200 running two monitors, with a old Voodoo Banshee running a third off of my system.
The third monitor for me is actually more of a gimick, since the Voodoo Banshee doesn't support WinXP's transperancy effects too well, so it's usually turned off.
It is nice though when working on designing web-pages, cause I can change it's color detail down to like 8-bit (256 colors) and see what it looks like at the different color and resolution settings.
