New Umbra Layout Is Online!

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

Posted by: Canis Lupus

Well, as you can see, the new layout is now active ... it was planned to be activated on New Year's Eve, but hey, better late than never

(Those who don't see it may need to log off first, then log back on.)

You may encounter some cosmetic glitches and some pages may not work yet, as I do some cleanup The Gallery, Downloads, Reviews and Seti Team links are currently being finalized so they may not work properly yet.

Also, check out our new Marketplace! Do some comparison shopping on your favorite computer components online!

For those who miss the old layout, you can still use that as your own by accessing the UserCP and changing the style back to Classic (only for registered members).

If you encounter any glitches or graphic anomalies, give us a holler at the Feedback forum!

Nice new look, i like, alot.

No offence, but the new layout is a tad bit ugly.

Just my opinion though.

However, the option to change it back was quite usefull

I was browsing the forums when I got sidetracked and ran off to another site. When I came back and reloaded the forums the new look took me by surprise.

I think it looks great, Laggy. I especially like the menu bars on both sides. They are simple, but they make for quick and easy access to the various resources on the site.

The overall layout looks techno-futuristic. I like it. Definitely a different feel from the old layout.

Once again, great job, Laggy. I've already encountered some "hidden" features I think I'll enjoy/find useful quite a bit.

What in holy...

Nice, but I like the old one better

Posted by: Canis Lupus

I kinda knew it's gonna be a matter of taste, which is why I left the option to go back to the old one ... personally, I like this new one much better and it's easier on the eyes and looks more slick

Coming soon - the light-background version of this one...

sorry guys, but while i can see the style in this new design, I can't say I like it. it may grow on me (cheered on by the fact that this is such a cool site anyway) but I won't fully like it.

Oh, and what is this I see??? Advertising????

Yeah, I even made a poll about it:

*AngstMerchant sighs heavily.*

Thanks for that refresher course on the nature of fact and opinion. I should talk to some folks at MIT and see if they can whip up a sarcasm detector. You need one.

I'm not in the mood to aesthetically deconstruct the site but my heart says bonus. But that's just my opinion. . .

the retro look is rather interesting.

Man, I thought I was going to use the "classic" layout (even though I thought this 'umbra' one was nifty), but when I changed back to 'classic', it seemed so bright and distracting.

The new layout is definately an improvement.

Well done

--edit--
And I just saw the "similar topics" thingy at the bottom of the page.

Swank.

Looks nice, but is going to take some getting used to before I can give it the thumbs up.

Posted by: ccpeters

Well we all knew the ads were coming cause we all discussed recently. I just now got a look at it and it aint half bad. I think it shows alot of forethought on their part to give us all the option of going back to the old style. I guess you cant please everyone.

I like it and I think I'll keep it. Good job guys!

Looks great, defenately a much different look than the old one...

ditto

Seeing this for the first time was definitely a 10 on the what-the-shit-o-meter. I kinda prefer the darker green, though.

Posted by: ElmStreet

good job.

i like this one style-layout wise. though a bit dark.

mix some orange and it will look great, just my opinion.

Posted by: Digitalphatman

I must say this is not bad at all. THough i do like the older colors betterm this is very nice

good work laggy

Posted by: -EG-raynor

only bad thing is, isnt green the OTS color?! now its teal...

Posted by: Iownyourmom

yay for the Back to Top button, i dont know about this new layout, it has a lot of cool new features but the black and green really kicked ass... i dont know tho i think ill stick with this one, what was sad is I couldn't find the usernames for like 5 minutes i looked and looked but stupid me never looked in the top left... ha all well, great new layout

Posted by: AtariFX

Where can I find a list of who's online???

Posted by: Erekose

yep a definite 10 on the what-the-shit-o-meter. it was quite a shock. heh i was half way through sitting down and i missed the chair (why must women leave their heels where they can be so dangerous?) i think i like it though

---psst angst they invented a sarcasm detector, but it is sarcasam-er implemented not sarcasm-ee (...i think that may be right)

Posted by: AtariFX

Found the list. Prob should've looked before I posted huh?

Posted by: AtariFX

Don't get we wrong, if I actually had any money I would donate quicker than you can say "wow, that was quick" - but i'm arround £3,000.00 in debt, with no money coming in, and no clients.

but don't get me wrong, i've got banners on my site (although they are almost all internal, and the ones that are not are my mates).

Posted by: Canis Lupus

You gotta do what you gotta do to keep the site up, y'know ... the only difference here is, except for the frontpage, registered members see text advertisments, while guests see banner ads

Posted by: redwench

we scatter our shoes about so youll fall for us, of course erek.

Posted by: Daniel

I'm thinking about doing something similar to that, ads for guests, etc... - what script are you using for it, or did you write one?

Posted by: Canis Lupus

it's Logician's Advanced Template Hack

Posted by: AtariFX

anyway to change my username? Can't find that option anywhere.

Posted by: Canis Lupus

Users can't change their usernames using the control panel ... only admins can change usernames...

Posted by: Daniel

ah yes, i've seen this hack b4, kinda of a shame though, i was looking foward to making my own, but why reinvent the wheel eh?

Posted by: AK47

something weird today--

I logged on a few minutes ago and while on the main forum page (the one where you can view all of the foums), instead of the text being the teal green, it was all blue....

Was that just something you were trying laggy? If so, I thought it looked pretty cool. Made all the forum titles really stand out

Posted by: nocode

i noticed that last night as well! The Blue text Rocked!
