RE4 is lookin good...

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

IGN screenshots and videos of Resident Evil 4

Yeah, just take a look at some of those screenshots... and those are not the good old static backgrounds of resident evil games past.

I havent been this impressed by early, early screenshots since Zelda 64.

And to think, the game isnt coming out till 2004.

I've got a feeling that it will play more like Devil May Cry than Resident Evil. I'd imagine that they're at least going to change the control scheme.

Hurray for lame ass subscription services, just to view screenshots.

So...RE4 isn't Code Veronica then?

They really need to fix their timeline shit.

And rerelease RE3 before RE2 since it happens before RE2.

Leave it to Capcom to **** up continuity.

Posted by: AK47

Nope, not code veronica.

The worst is how 3 and 2 dont even have any interaction. It woulda been pretty boss if you ran into leon while playing through 3.

Eh, hopefully 4 kicks alot of ass.

Spoiler?

RE3 did not come before RE2. The ending of RE3 made it impossible for the events of RE2 to take place if it indeed happened after RE3.

Posted by: AltronHGX

Damn it. I hit that "You have exceeded your daily limit on pictures" right when I clicked "Best character model ever".

This is just after I only looked at 4 pictures.

Can anyone attach the picture?

Altron, RE3 happens a single day (24 hours) before RE2.

--edit--
Actually, not even a full day before RE2

Quote:

From Capcom's webpage
This unique adventure intricately reveals more of Umbrella Corporation's nightmarish plot and picks up just hours before the events from Resident Evil™ 2.

Posted by: AltronHGX

That makes no ****ing sense. What is wrong with Capcom?

Spoilers:
That means Claire, Leon, the little girl (Sherry I think it was), are all dead!

And why was the police department boarded up then in RE3? omg. Now, if this was another gaming company like Konami or Square.. This would probably all make sense..

But it doesn't!

edit:

On the topic of RE3 I would like to add that the Nemesis was the only thing ever in an RE game to ever scare me.

That thing could go through doors and ****ing run at you. Run fast even!

And that, my friend, is the question of questions.

Posted by: SKYHN

Why has this turned into a RE2 VS RE3 debate?

RE3 has parts that take place before, durring and after RE2. At the end of RE3(you know what happens if you beat it ) Claire, Leon and Sherry are nowhere near Racoon City. Most of RE2 takes place in Umbrella labs, not Racoon City anyways. And Code: Veronica takes place after RE2/3.

BTW, if IGN locks you out from viewing media, just delete their cookie in your temp net folder

Posted by: Spider

I'm still hungup on why this new one isn't called RE5
Technically Code Veronica was the fourth installment of the series.

If you go by timeline, RE4 would be the 6th in the series, because RE Zero takes place before RE

Theres also RE Survivor(bleh), but Im not sure where that one fits in.

REZero
RE
RE2
RE3
REC:V
RE4

Posted by: Spider

Yeah, I forgot about Zero
what a bunch of morons
why can't they just assign numbers to the order they come in the story. Oh I remember because they suck

Eh, I'd argue that the majority of RE2 was in the police department.... thats why I was so upset when RE3 didnt have you run into Leon, Claire or any of the RE2 characters. They really coulda done something cool with that, but instead, they seemingly whipped up RE3 in a matter of days and got it out asap just because they knew any RE would sell.

Tis a shame.

Ah well, RE2 is still amazing. Best atmosphere of any game I've played.

--edit--
thanks for the tip skyhn

To be honest, I couldn't stand RE3. It's the only one out of all the PS RE's that I never finished. I loved the first one the most, aside from all of the horrible voice acting, and the fact that their mouths don't move when they talk. RE2 was awesome too, and I especially liked Code Veronica, and Code Veronica X's extra movie scenes. I miss playing my Dreamcast though, but anyway....

I played the RE remake for Gamecube and I was far from impressed, but I did like Zero quite a bit. I had never even seen RE Survivor in stores, only in PSM. Did it even make it to the shelves?

Posted by: Gunslinger

They were all fun. Anyone who doesn't think so is so very wrong....

I mean...yeah. Everyone can have their opinion.

Posted by: Rousiecat

I've gotta say that I own all the RE games and I really liked Nemesis, although Resident Evil for GC was awesome. Damn crimson heads always gave me a heartattack. I found myself in hallways thinking, "ok did I burn the body or didnt I ? " Very cool. I just finished RE 0. It was ok but not heart stopping like the others. And the movie Kicked @ss. Man I loved the shot of the train when the they got the power on. What a classic moment!

Posted by: AK47

Yeah, them crimson heads were real trouble.

They could really run... definately threw me for a curve the first time one got up and just started haulin ass down the hallway after me

If the first RE was your favorite, how did the GC remake of it not impress you? Its basically the same game with the graphics turned up x1000.

Posted by: AK47

I asked him that a while ago.

I think it boiled down to the fact that the game was on Gamecube.

And here's another great one--

Looks like they tried to make a Squall/Chris Redfield spawn.

I'm not impressed.

Posted by: N.W.A_Kid

point there about the whole squall, leon thing, however, the graphics are indeed sharp. And yes, I put my Game Cube differences aside and played them. And you're close, it's the fact that something that is classic (to me anyway) shouldn't be remade. It just wasn't original, and I guess that's what I disliked most about it. The RE remake wasn't all bad, it's just something about it didn't click w/me. I haven't seen the movie yet though. I feel as if I've missed out.

Posted by: Spider

The first RE looked horrible. I'm thoroughly glad they remade it. It's 14x better than it's original incarnation and 9x better than it's Director's cut. I hope in a few years they remake RE2, but just a graphical overhaul, I wouldn't touch that gameplay at all. Best RE game ever.

Posted by: N.W.A_Kid

I really liked the gameplay of RE2 also. Just to see Leon or Claire walking, then look up and see that licker hanging from the ceiling, and even all the times you beat up William Birkin or the tyrant in the second time around and they kept coming back for more. The music was just right for the mood too, I think.

You must see the movie. Its F***ing awesome.

Posted by: AltronHGX

Milla Jovovich is reason to see it enough.

Posted by: N.W.A_Kid

I'll have to check it out this weekend, my last weekend of freedom, hopefully.

Posted by: Erekose

little tip for RE on the GC: run. keep running. DONT STOP RUNNING!

...works for me
