Laggy Diablo II

It's been awhile since I've played Diablo II, but now Im starting to get back into it a bit. I've noticed in my short time back, the realms seem to be very laggy. I don't think it's my computer. Any ideas on how to make the infamous "black ground" stop appearing? I've ended all my processes and killed all other applications. When i type 'fps' in the game, everything looks fine. Howver, what is the:

Phy: 210/256

All about? I know that's Physical Memory, but is 210 free, or 210 used? It better be free...

Unfortunatly the black wall wont go away (at least thats wat i thing).
But are you downloading something cause that can make the rest of you internet less good.

The 'black wall' issue is caused by representational inconsistancies between your game client and the game session on the server. The server provides your client with game environment information in a pocket right around where your character is, according to the server. When the server thinks you are in one place and your client has your character in a different place, you encounter the 'black wall'. This is your character reaching the edge of the envelope of game environment information that the server has provided to your client.

So, having established that, you can see that the issue is not really your available memory or your fps (display efficiency). The problem lies in your connectivity. How are you connecting to the internet?? If you say dial-up, I say suffer. The dial-up option will have this 'black wall' issue fairly frequently. If you have DSL or cable, I don't know what to tell you except you should try to chase down anything that would be causing high latency UDP packets.

The problem is your computer, pal. I spend a lot of time in the Open Tech Support channel on Battle.Net and I see a lot of common problems. Lousy connectivity isn't one of them.
