Anyone see these comercials? They're classic. I caught them on the news and I couldnt believe what I was hearing. "You drive an SUV, so you buy gas, therefore, you support terrorists" Just priceless.
Even better is what I caught on The Daily Show. The quote went "Aparently, the ad creators want you to drive hybrid gas electric cars, which, only support terrorists when you're going up a hill."

The "SUV drivers support terrorists" ads are actually a well-funded parody, and meant to be social/political commentary.
Arianna Huffington (a leftist political analyst) and several liberal social activist groups put them together in response to the "marijuana smokers support terrorists" ads. The group name is The Detroit Project.

The idea was suggested on internet message boards, where people discussing the "marijuana supports terror" ads began parodying them.

The whole marijuana supports terrorists thing is especially hilarious when you think about it, cause most of it originates within north america.

Most marijuana originates in N.A.? I didn't know that. Speaking of truckers, it pisses me off that they can use a CB, change channels, and adjust frequencies while driving a tanker of propane, but I can't talk on my cell phone while driving my civic!

Yup. Most pot sold in America is grown in northern California, Oregon, Tennessee, and Kentucky. Most of the rest is grown in Mexico (which is still North America). Some is imported from Europe, but not much. Most countries known for terrorist activities don't have anything resembling the right climate for large-scale marijuana growing.
If you use cocaine, there's a 95% chance it came from South America. Drug lords down there could be considered terrorists, but only to people who try to take over their territory or threaten their drug business. Go watch Traffic and tell me if you'd classify those people as terrorists -- yes, they do terrible things, but is it terrorism?
If you shoot heroin, there's an off-chance that it may have come from Afghani poppies -- but no other middle-eastern country, as Islamic Shaaria law says that drug users, manufacturers, and sellers should be killed without trial. (Shaaria law is in place in Saudi Arabia, Nigeria, Somalia and Iran, and Iraq doesn't have the correct climate for poppy fields) And it wouldn't have been coming from Afghani poppies unless you're shooting heroin that's been sitting around since 1995 or before. One of the first things the Taliban did when they took power in 1996 was to burn the poppy fields and kill everyone involved with them. Funny thing, though... since we ousted the Taliban and put the Northern Alliance back in power, the Afghanis are boasting of a bumper crop of poppies this year...
I'm not supporting Islamic law or the Taliban by ANY stretch of the imagination, I'm illustrating the fact that this issue has so many shades of grey that it can make you dizzy.

Hey, don't leave out British Columbia. Pot is their main export, as far as I know. It's definitely an industry around vancouver... and I doubt it never crosses the border.

not only are the ads, the drugs support terror ads, false but they are knowingly false. the infamous northern alliance, made up of warlords ousted by the taliban, are the largest group of heroin dealers in the world and now are supported, as they where when they where fighting the russians, by the U.S. why is this hyprocisy tolerated? the truth is not hard to come by if you look in the right places. why can't our politicians tell the truth? just a shot in the dark, but could it be money? but back to the suv ads. oil can, has, and will cause terror. though the ads are funny i doubt they will stop anyone from driving one. one more thing i read the other day, i do not remember where, the new cadillac escalande(sp?) gets worse gas mileage then a greyhound bus. it is time to stop this madness.
