relaxing

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

Posted by: PMS GURL

im wondering if anyone knows any good ways to relax the body and mind.
Im sitting here freaking out, having a stress attack, and crying cuz im so over worked at school. (i do 1 highschool class in 20 days all day to try and get the credit)i have to read shoeless joe, animal farm, hamlet, write 3 essays, design my perfect world and not be stressed out in 1 week. THIS WEEK.

Posted by: Tweaker

Maybe a nice walk, or just sit somewhere alone and listen to some good music. Remember to take it one step at a time, you get nothing accomplished by having a anxiety attack over it.

When I'm stressed out I either go on a DVD movie binge, or take a long leisurely walk along the beach. I also smoked when I was stressed out, but I haven't done that since June...

nothing i say would be counted as helpful so imma just shut up

I don't think the laundromat is the typical location for that kind of relaxation.

heroin

...sorry, couldn't resist

Posted by: slugo3

You could try Brain Wave Generator. Ive never used it myself, let me know if it works

You have a singular wit.

Hot bath. Or if you don't have the time you can just fill it up 1/4th the way and put your feet in the water.

Posted by: PMS GURL

Wow I just finished reading Shoeless Joe... pretty good book and all, though the English tests made it worse.

Anyway to the topic... the best way to relax is sleep. Of course sleep does call for time, but it is deffinitely the best way. I have to control my stress a little as well... next week is exam week, even though I already had my English exam today Try not to let the stress get to you as much though. Think of feeling good after it's over. That's what I do... haven't gone to sleep before midnight since the school year started.

Stress is imaginary.

Posted by: Arwen

I've been there many, many times: aches and panic attacks etc. The only things that help are Zen meditation (gawd it only requires you be able to breathe and count to ten), chain-drinking tea and pacing up and down trying to get the bloody information in my head.

A good tip for exams though is to revise eating plain chocolate digestive biscuits (or equivalent) - it got me a First!

Posted by: TheeMon

i just took all my exams thursday they were easy- i got all A's and B's on um though :P

I actually enjoyed reading Animal Farm.

Posted by: Ion Silverbolt

John Belushi was great in that.

shoeless joe is a drag tho. I sit in a classroom for 2 hours per day and doing 1000's of ?'s and its just too boring the movie. and im confused with it.
i love animal farm tho, except snowball is gone and i liked his character. Im a geek who loves to read and get too involved in a book. Ive even cried when people leave or die. Im sad sad sad lol

Shoeless Joe gets really good towards the end though, and I hate baseball myself. It's not very long either... and you should be able to understand it as long as you keep in mind that there's a baseball to religion allegory, and that it is basically all written in figurative language. Hell though, if you've read it through once you'll understand everything because it comes out clear in the end.

A hot shower does it for me when I need to loosen up a bit. They don't have baths here at the dorms (thankfully).

Hrm, but while I'm still home right now, maybe I should... *runs to Target to buy some bubble soap*

i just noticed that im not bad at poetry so im starting to write more and take all my stress out in poems and not keep inside anymore and let it blow one day. ( ask muggs, he's seen it and he'll be happy when he sees me all chilled out for once)

Okay, I think I need a British-to-American translator here.. can anyone tell me what this means?!? I mean, I understand all the words individually, but when you put them all together.. huh?

revise = change or modify?
"plain chocolate digestive biscuits": ?!?
first = is that like an A?

Posted by: Null Actor

Digestive biscuits == baby cookies.

As for the rest, I have no idea.

Posted by: Arwen

They are not baby cookies. Crumbly, high fat content wheatflour biscuits that melt in the mouth if you nibble round the edges and have a coating of plain (or milk) chocolate on one side. Do you have Hob-nobs out there? cos they're kind of like that. They're made by McVities (owned by United Biscuits Ltd) if that helps.

Revise = trying to get all information in the lecture notes and suplemental reading notes into one's head for impending exam.

Yes, First = A, actually: 1st class cu m laude, and I worked very hard for it.

Posted by: Arwen

Oh come on: why the asterisks? I was only saying I got a 1st with honours, its often referred to in Latin.

Posted by: Arwen

Thank you

Posted by: Shalome

Okay, I get it.

"Study while eating chocolate cookies, because it got me good grades."

Arwen, I think you might be overestimating the extent of British slang usage and product marketing outside the UK.

Posted by: Arwen

Sorry about that. Its just such a common expression here and we all have our little ways of getting through the process of examinations. We (in Bio & Life sciences) used to amuse the psychology majors with our strange rituals.

Study here means to work throughout the academic year on assignments and coursework.

Posted by: Erekose

... i understood arwen perfectly (though admittedly i wasnt too certain about the 'digestive' part of the cookies)

and thee getting a's on an essay? sorry dudey, but that makes me giggle. like a little girl

Posted by: TheeMon

bite me they were mid terms not essays and i took 5 i do belive i got 4 A's and 1 B

Posted by: Gunslinger

Want a chocolate digestive biscuit?

Wow there must be another side to you that we don't know... however I'd still presume the B was in English...

Posted by: Erekose

nah we know about his other side, we just like to tease him about this one is all i mean c'mon, if you were to take the names off all of the posts im pretty sure most of us could still pick thee's (or ours that theespeak has influenced) 9 times out of 10

Posted by: Darky!

IF theemon gets good grades in English, then we can draw a few conclusions as to why theemon's typing is so horrible. I've started a list of possible answers, here’s just a few;

1.) He's high every time he sits in front of a computer.

2.) He's JeffK's offspring, or is somehow directly related to JeffK.

I could probably think up more, but I'm tired.

Actually, scratch that, I can't.

Posted by: redwench

3.) His english teacher is high every time he/she grades his papers.

4.) Thee has a split personality.

Posted by: Erekose

5) He feels he can sneak past our normally top-notch defenses by pretending he can't type, thereby making it easier to infiltrate OTS and wrest control from the powers that be. IVVA LA REVLUSHONZA!!

Posted by: Freak

5)Thee is actually a teenage girl because all teenage girls type l4k dis.

Posted by: Erekose

hey! i had 5), get your own

Posted by: TheeMon

no, its kuz i cant spell and have lack of proper punctuation

(and fyi no the B was in my lab- my cisco ccna class)

allso i have taken like 5 years of various typing classes so i CAN type correctly its just my english skills that im lacking

Posted by: Cheese

yet never a lack of emoticons

Posted by: uh...ok

Hey now, lay off the emoticons - they're cool.

-uh...ok

Posted by: Xtren

Guys you're overestimating Thee's skill. Check out the emoticons, they're all happy faces I mean

Posted by: TheeMon

bite me i have tons of skill

Posted by: Darky!

don't you mean "omg stfu im more 31337 then u noob hahahahaha!!!!1!!" ?
