Internet Explorer

I just recently installed Windows XP on an 80GB hard drive I just bought. I had Windows XP installed on a 13.6GB drive before, and Internet Explorer worked fine. I hardly got those damn annoying red X's on web pages. Now, I see an endless sea of red X's on almost any page I go to, and Microsoft's website is of no help. Any help on the subject would be greatly appreciated.

Since you reinstalled the operating system and all, have you gone to http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com and downloaded all service packs for IE and WinXP?

Also just to add;

[color=sky blue]Make sure that the following file types are associated by default with Microsoft Internet Explorer (Iexplore.exe):

HOW TO: Change File Associations in Windows XP

Posted by: barbarian256

I have downloaded all updates and service packs for Windows XP and IE, immediately after I installed Windows. Also, I tried changing file associations and that made no difference.

right click on internet explorer.. select properties .. go to the advanced tab and down at the bottom choose restore default .. this usually works for me ..

I've tried restoring the default settings, and that did nothing. I've tried using Microsoft's website for help, and that accomplished nothing. I'm thinking about reinstalling Windows. I don't want to, but it may be my last resort. Let me know if there's anything else I should try before I do something this drastic.

Try this:

When you've got Internet Explorer open, go to Tools, then Internet Options.

Select the "Advanced" tab.

Scroll down to the "Multimedia" section.

Make sure "Show images" or "Show pictures" is enabled (X in the box next to it).

Show multimedia and show pictures are both enabled. What's funny is that not all sites do this. This website doesn't have this problem. This is a real pain in my ass because if I right-click on any red X's, they instantly show up as they are supposed to, like my browser won't even try to load everything up.

Nevermind.
