If true, this'll be huge.

WOW, that would be big news.

There is a current rumor in this months OXM magazine that Half-Life 2 is going to be Xbox exclusive. If the above story were true than that would really make sense.

So, Blizard is part of Vivendi?

I've not heard of vivendi before.

Complete and utter nonsense at this point. Any proposed purchase of this size by Microsoft would have to be approved to insure no monopoly would be created. So the purchasse could not be a done deal.

I think that this would be particulary true in light of the past law suits agains MS

Posted by: Null Actor

It couldn't possibly create a monopoly.

Posted by: bLaCkOuT

Nah, OS systems maybe. But for gaming, there are a ton of game manufacturers, definately enough to not be considered a monopoly.

That would be mighty fine by me!

This has been going around the net now since Vivendi first said they might be selling, which was several months ago.

If it does turn out to be true, what a shame.

Posted by: Null Actor

Why would it be a shame? Come on... try and convince me.

Why bother? Anything I say will be blantantly and instantly dismissed.

no doubt. I do think it would suck though

I feel like stirring the pot a bit, so I'll mention the fact that, as many of us know, Blizzard is currently developing a console game. Their first console game.

If this MS/Vivendi rumor turns out to be true, I could see another Halo scenario occurring with Ghost (i.e. an exclusive XBox title). I think Halo is porting over to PC, so that may not be such a big deal.

But I speak as if it's something really important...

Posted by: Tecil

Let us not forget that Blizzard used to make console games "back in the day".

But on a side note, I could totally see the same thing happening with Ghost that happened with Halo. Let alone Half-Life 2.

I stand corrected.

Rock and Roll Racing was sweet. The soundtrack was bomb.

Lost Vikings was entertaining as well.

Looks like the topic was /.ed this morning.

Here is Vivendi's site which lists a lot of their properties.

I hate to sound like a fanboy, but I'm hoping this is true so that all the people that said Microsoft would not make it in the console market will STFU.

Looking a little more solid...

Yeah, but all the anti-MS fanboys will just say that MS 'made it' by buying up everything they could (like alot of people predicted).

Oh, and MS buying Vivendi wont automatically mean that they've 'made it' in the console market. Their sales have allready shown that they're a pretty big force in the market.
