Microsoft Internet Keyboard problem

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

Posted by: Googi

I got a Microsoft Internet Keyboard and hooked it up to my Windows XP computer, installed the driver, and restarted the computer.

The keyboard didn't work.

So I uninstalled the driver, and installed it again, restarted again. The keyboard, of course, still didn't work.

:\

try downloading some new drivers

Could be XP that messes things up, not sure :S
In my opinion they should burn XP, but thats just my humble opinion :P

You know what galacus?

Your one of the first ones I come across that has the same feeling that I do ...

Everyone says XP is so much easier to use.. (Maybe for them) but it is huge in size (near 2GBs) it takes a good amount of mem atleast 256 to run well ... and a 400 and +!!!!

Using win98se u need a 486 DX CPU or higher
8 of ram or better...

and 150MB for minimaL!

This windows when updated is really stable and compatible!

For your keyboard.. Try pressing DEL to see if it enters BIOS....

and if it does then go check if there isnt a keyboard conflict ( I doubt)

I use XP Pro and I have no problems with it.

Did you plug in the keyboard when the computer was off?

fascinating that 256 ram, 400mHz cpu, and 2gb are considered steep requirements by some. particularly since a 5 year old computer could easily meet them.

wont work in what way? how are you installing the drivers if the keyboard doesnt work? did you try letting xp use its default drivers? what type of connection does it use: usb or dual?

It works now ^_^

I just had to download a driver instead of using the one that came on a CD with the keyboard.

told ya !!!

further more,... i dislike XP because i saw how it works and how crappy it can work.
I've "worked" in a computer store, and i've seen computers that had XP on them which went nuts.
Deleting a simple partition can take all day with XP, the only OS made by windows which i find a decent and reasonable stable OS is windows 2000 PRO.

But linux is by far the best OS !

As I've said before, the absolute "best" OS is always the one you're not using

Except, XP Pro is 2k Pro, with a new interface, and several bug fixes. The thing is, you can turn the new interface off, along with a few of the new menu effects, and XP Pro will look and feel just like 2k Pro, except its 10x faster, and just as stable, if not more.

Now, XP Home Edition is another matter. It plain sucks.

i am very curious as to why you would think this. have you used it yourself to know this for fact, or is this your opinion of it because you use xp pro?

i've said it before and i'll say it again, there is nothing in xp home that has limmited me from doing anything, and it is completely STABLE!

edit........

there is nothing Here that would make me think xp home sucks.

xp home is basically the same as pro with mostly buisness related features left out.

I used it first, before I switched back to 2k Pro and ordered an XP Pro kit from Microsoft. The difference is, XP Home would crash, or force me to reboot every few hours, XP Pro does not.

Of course, I also had XP Home running on FAT32 over an installation of 98SE...

that helps me understand why you would say that then.

i guess there are many factors involved that produce either a stable OS, or an unstable one no matter what OS you use.
