2002 Record Breaking Year for US Games Industry

New figures released by NPD Group reveal that games retail generated over $10 billion in the USA last year for the first time, marking a rise of about 10 per cent in sales despite falling hardware revenues.
Predictions for 2003 made in NPD's report suggest that this trend will continue, with unit sales growth outstripping actual dollar sales growth significantly in the hardware arena. The market will continue to see financial growth however, with software sales continuing to mount up thanks to larger installed bases and deeper market penetration for the next generation machines.
