I just cant understand it I have a very good system, its a XP16***1700 (yes it is oc, BUT i have a huge cooling system aparatus and i can assure you that this deos not affects the performance, and also i cannot underclock it, due to some problems) and 256 ram DDR 266MHZ, a gig of free space, a HD that was defragged, on Windows XP Pro, DX 9.0, all the latest updates to my Radeon 8500.
it locks consistenly, specially in MP games
i have no way to explain it, there is no point where i can say "well now it is going to bug" its random
sometimes i can play for hours, but mostly it locks after 30 or 40 minutes
strangely enough when I play on one vs one it locks a lot less
i have a lot of "heavy" games, like MOhha, Serious Sam 2, Never winter nights, Soldier of Fortune 2, and some others, wich obviously require a lot of power and they NEVER, not once, crash
i wonder why this is happening only to this game i am very very angry

you see thats whats wrong, everything is perfect according to the tutorial and there cant possibly be anything wrong with the hardware, considering that it runs smoothly everything else. this just doesnt make any sense does it?

Another thing to check is make sure your ram is seated properly.
*Edit: One other thing you might check is updating your bios.

You see I cannot acess my Bios becouse my PS2 ports broke down and i am down to my usb ports.

My son's computer had cmdlineext02.dll as a running task, too. It had been created at the same time as a Warcraft III map download named something like 'Azotil'. (I deleted it and can't remember exact name.) It had been installed for two days, complete with registry changes, and the machine had been crashy of late. I don't see why a Warcraft file should run constantly in the background. I could find no info on the internet with a search which also leads me to believe this is not a valid program. My son has gotten trojans several times because of the number of multiplayer games he plays. I would suggest doing some online scans for trojans and viruses.

and it bugged the same way, only now with blue screen of death becouse in a desperated attempt I installed win98
the fact is that this game was not build for some configurations and thats it. gotta deal with it. and by that i mean no longuer buying programs from companies that do not respect it costumers
come on
I have dozens of games, from all sorts of companies, both big and small, how come that the suposedly biggest company lets me down?
I mean, they have all the resources and money to invest, but they choose not to.
If my pc was a buggy crappy one, I would not mind, but considering that it is very good, i cant see why it cant work

I am having the exact same problem, except the lockups
and crashes also happen when playing unreal
tournement 2003 and MOHAA. I have updated drivers
for motherboard, soundcard (Audigy) videocard(ATI all in
wonder 8500 dv) and direct X9... 768mgs of ram,
windows xp pro, 80gig HD, Atholon 2200 processor
(runs at 1800mhz) I share your frustration in having
read Blizzards support site multiple times.... Is it the
video card that could be causing problems, I am thinking
of installing a new one to see if it helps but that would be silly considering the one I have should be fine... I dont know what to do...

i just installed the game on another computer, a xp 1800 with gf4
same config on the rest except that its a soyo dragon, same error
really a very poorly developed game
i installed on a duron 650mhz with a gf2 and it works, but this computer isnt mine so i had to delete

Unfortunately, this is a hardware issue. Warcraft 3 uses a lot of upper memory that most games and OS applications will not touch. If your memory is bad, you might receive this error in war3 and never see it any other time. I got the same error, and after rebuilding my entire hard drive SIX times, I switched the ram and whalla, problem solved.
I would say that you're having the same issue. It's a generic error in War3 when it cannot read upper memory (or so I believe). This error is definitely not one caused by incorrect drivers or some conflicting codec. Solution: Get different ram, unless you want to quit warcraft 3.
