DeerHunter No More

The Adrenaline Vault is reporting that the company behind Deer Hunter is closing down:
Sunstorm Interactive Monday closed its doors and laid off its entire staff of 17. Many have credited Sunstorm with creating the value game category with their Deer Hunter series and introducing PC entertainment to a previously untapped market of casual users. In recent years the very category that Sunstorm helped to define saw a decrease in sales but an increase in consumer expectations. This raised development costs and made it hard for a large American company to compete with smaller studios in the U.S. or abroad.
Sunstorm is retaining a skeleton crew to do some clean up work over the next few weeks. Their work will include completing the final Deer Hunter patch and sending it to Infogrames for release. Sunstorm also will make enough of their original resources available to the public to help the mod community create new content.
