Xbox Next

Microsoft supremo Bill Gates has spoken to French national newspaper Les Echos about the Xbox project, giving interesting insights into both the future of the current console, and the company's plans for Xbox 2 and its continued assault on the living room.

According to Gates, the next-generation Xbox (which many people speculate will be called "Xbox Next", based on recent domain name registrations by Microsoft) will be a much more broadly-focused multimedia device than the current console. Among the features touted for the system are "digital media capabilities such as video and photo editing" and "Internet capabilities without the need for direct connections through Wi-Fi."

*sigh* unfortunately, Freak is right, resistance is futile....grrrr.... damn Bill Gates and his evil Microsoft Empire!!!

As futile as the resistance is, I still don't see an XBox hooked up to my television.

Yeah, because you are being forced to buy xboxes and use them. Microsoft is personally stopping you from buying dvd players and tivos and whatever the hell else you might want.

I don't know about other people, but I'd rather have one device that does everything rather than 5 devices that do one thing. Since there are other people like me, microsoft is just going for that. I say power to them. Microsoft knows what people want. It's not difficult, they just take the time to listen.

And damn him for making products people like and use. Damn him for introducing a new console with plenty of good games. Damn him for allowing MS to buy game companies, then give them tons of cash and let them make what they want. Damn them for being best game studio around. Damn them for making some of the best software money can buy.

Damn them for being successful, is what it really boils down to. Damn them for excelling in a capitalist environment.

Yeah. More functionality in a smaller package is always a better deal.

Sounds nice, but whenever something like this is attempted, quality is compromised on at least one of the functions.

Ill keep my videogames, dvds etc.. all seperate.
