Anyone pre-order Zelda for GC?
(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)
Posted by: SKYHN
I did, and my bonus disc came today. It says its supposed to ship on the 16th, but it came today, so oh well
Posted by: Gunslinger
I pre-ordered it, but since I put down the bare minimum for a pre-payment, I can only get mine when I pick up the game.
No rush, though.
Any information on the bonus disc?

Yeah, Its kickass
Ocarina of Time is just a straight port, I thought maybe it would run at a higher framerate, but it looks to be about the same as the N64 version.
The masterquest game is weird. Its like exactly the same as the other. It probably has the extra stuff like near the end of the game or something. I dont see why have 2 seperate ones on here though if that is the case..

I wish they would have thrown in Majora's Mask also.
Posted by: AK47
Preordered it and I am awaiting it's release. Should be great.
I tried to play through Majoras Mask while I wait, but I just cant dig the game at all. The whole time travel aspect totally turns me off.

I just bought a GameCube last weekend because of Nintendo's marketing where you buy a GameCube for $140 and get one of 4 games free, I chose Metroid Prime . MP is kickass and I just checked my preorder for Zelda at ebgames and it said it is partially shipped so I guess I'll get my bonus disk tomorrow or the day after. Can't wait
Posted by: SKYHN
If you picked standard shipping, it will come either tomorrow or by the end of the week(3 to 5 days). I got their 2 day shipping, its only $1 more than the regular.
I still havent found any part of the whole "master quest" thing yet.

Aren't the dungeon layouts and puzzles just supposed to be switched around in the master quest?

Yeah, I just figured that out. I think they added a few dungeons too.
Posted by: AK47
Where did you all order from?
I did gamestop.com...2 day shipping... still nothing shipped.
Posted by: SKYHN
Ebgames here, but there was 2 ways to order it. Get the game with the bonus disc when the game comes out, or get the bonus disc early for extra shipping charge. They had showed it as shipping on the 6th, then changed it to the 16th, then I got it today, so I dunno wtf is going on. All I know is I got it.
Posted by: AK47
yeah, I did the thing where you get the bonus disc early. like you said, gamestop said the 16th.
We shal see.

I have to wait unitl March 25.

I think theres something a little buggy about the main menu where you select which game you want to play. When I first played, you had to use diagonal up/left and down/right to move left and right. Now just left and right are working, thats weird.
On a side now, theres a crapload of gameplay videos from several games on the disc, and they are very high quality(like your actually playing). Games include: Wind Walker, F-Zero, 1080, and my favorite..Wario World! It looks awesome. He talks too.

I think Zelda is out here also somewhere in march
Posted by: AK47
Got the bonus disc yesterday.
I think the graphics look sharper... could it be because the game is running in high res now? I dunno. I'll have to do a side by side comparison, but everything just looks less blury now.
I gotta say, for being over 4 years old, Occarina of time still looks great. Pretty impressive.
Posted by: Gunslinger
I'm still an eternity from finishing Skies of Arcadia. Can't even think about Zelda yet.

Heh, I lost track of Zelda after Z2: The Adventures of Link. I played Ocarina of Time once, and didn't get very far, but I'm looking to buy the new one when it comes out. It's been a long time since I've touched a Zelda game.

If you missed Zelda 3: A link to the Past on Snes, do yourself a favor and pick it up.
Its great

I preordered mine last week, got my OoT/Master Quest today. Still haven't gotten the GameCube from 9:35 though. He shipped it but it hasn't gotten here here yet. Have you tried the masterquest, AK47? How's it fair?
Posted by: AK47
I've been playing the masterquest and its cool so far. Everything is identical save for the dungeons... they're different. Started dodongo's cavern earlier tonight and its nice playing through the same great game but having it feel fresh with the new dungeon puzzles.
Also, I have a theory that the graphics are slightly sharper than the N64 version, but I'm probably just halucinating.
All in all...masterquest equals cool. The whole bonus disc is just such a rockin extra.... its worth the $50 that Wind Waker costs.

Zelda 2 is weird though.
Then you have to walk on the right space.
later jump trough a wall and the last boss is super hard.
Posted by: Spider
Yeah, the graphics are better, they reproduced it in a higher resolution for the gamecube.
Posted by: Null Actor
pffffffff
No they didn't. Everything is exactly the same as it was on the n64, they just changed the resolution. I doubt they changed any source art.
Posted by: Null Actor
BTW I'm playing through OOT again and I'm not hating it as much as I remember, though parts of it still annoy the **** out of me, like not being able to reliably speed up text.
Posted by: Spider
Increasing the resolution was all I said they did, which normally makes games look better.
Yeah, not being able to skip text in the game really pissed me off my second and third times through it too
Posted by: Null Actor
Well, the use of 'reproduced' implies extra work was done. Not my fault you can't write!
Posted by: SKYHN
You can skip some text and go directly to the end of it if you press B, but it doesnt always work. When you read stuff for the first time, it wont let you do that though.
Posted by: Null Actor
Note my use of the word 'reliably'. Plus, I don't want to skip text, I just want to be able to read it faster than it'd take a kindergarten kid to sound it out manually.

I was actually quoting the back of the box.
And I believe they meant reproduced in the GC format. Could be wrong though, that's what I took it to mean. But in anycase. urmom
Posted by: Null Actor
You could be right. Not that it particularly matters.
I do wish they'd spent at least a little time sprucing up the graphics. The 2d backgrounds on some areas are just horrendous pixel noise.
Posted by: Spider
Well, I haven't had a chance to play it yet, I got my Gamecube from Adam today, but he forgot to send me the cables.
Guess I'll keep busy by coloring with these nifty crayons

Has anyone beaten the fire temple on master quest? If so, how the f*** do you do that puzzle at the very top of the map where theres a chest surrounded by the fire, and you have to hit that switch to turn it off, then get up there before it goes off? I sat there for a good 30 mins and was 1 second away everytime. Is there like a trick to it?
Posted by: Spider
Do you have your hookshot yet? Have you tried using it on the chest? There were puzzles like that in the original OOT.
Posted by: SKYHN
Yes, I have it. But there are these high walls all that make like a little path, and you have to run around that, then hookshot up to a platform, which the chest is on. Ive tried it over and over, always miss it by one second, thats with rolling, side stepping and everything.
I only have the first hookshot, so its not very long. You dont get the long one til the the temple of the dead.

I take it back. Ocarina of Time is the most overrated game of all time. It's a stinking pile of shit and I don't know how anyone can possibly enjoy it.

10 points for carrying on a conversation all by yourself!

How long have you played? about 5 seconds?
Posted by: Gunslinger
I'm sure he played it long enough to figure out that it wasn't Deus Ex.

Ohh yeaah!
