A New Project

Okay so I have been charged with finding a simple yet delicious menu for a romantic dinner that can be cooked in a dorm room (full amenities) on a college budget (read "just enough money to call home and beg for more" ). Okay so I volunteered, but I figured as how I have to get this put together before this friday (the earlier the better) I thought I would ask for assistance. Include recepies, and insturctions if you could, please.

...c'mon someone out there must know how to cook, or at least how to fake it.

well, theres always spaghetti, salad, and bread (with or without garlic) and wine.

aside from that, how about oregano/basil chicken breasts and potatos? cook with whatever spices you like. heavy on the oregano and basil is recommended.

oh yeah, dessert. cheesecake. period.

heh maybe i wasn't too clear. i cant cook. but i can follow directions and formulae very well. ill need recepies and directions (namely cook times and the like) i was thinking chicken marsalla. what would be a good wine for that? if a brand doesnt come to mind then perhaps a type (are they called 'types'?) tell i dont do romantic often?

cook things until theyre done. use a meat thermometer

any red or white wine can be used to cook meat. since youre cooking, buy cheap. if youre doing italian, large amounts of herbs like oregano, basil, thyme, majoram.

Spaghetti:

1) Cook noodles per instructions on package. (Boil water (high), add noodles and stir, wait for water to boil again, reduce to medium-low, stir occasionally, check the noodle consisency until it isn't too hard).
2) Open one can of pre-made spaghetti sauce (Prego is delicious) and sitr in.
3) Make sure you have parmasean cheese or hot dried chilies on hand depending on what she likes.

Garlic Bread:

1) Cheap way is to get some regular bread slices, spread butter, add garlic. Bake about 5-7 minutes on somewhere around 350-400 degrees.
2) More expensive way is to go to Walmart and buy some premade.

Salad:

1) Chopped lettuce, tomato, onion with Italian dressing

Easy stuff! Can be made in a little under half an hour from start to finish. Yer looking at under $10 right there.

If you are looking for a little more variety, go to Campbell Soup Kitchen. Campbell soups can make like any recipie and typically very fast.

I typed in chicken for the search and it came up with 1500+ recipies. I cook with Campbell soups ALOT.
