i did a quick search on Price Watch and it looks like anything under $500 are PII's 366Mhz and below. i doubt that you want something that slow.

A little known thing about laptops is that all the major brands are made by 2 or 3 OEM companies. Dell, HP, Compaq, Toshiba, Gateway and just about every other "brand" on the market(Sony has their own company they created). The only difference between each brand is the logo. I believe Alienware might be the only company that makes their own laptops. Usually the brand name companies slap their logo on the laptop and jack the price up $500+.
Theres a website out there that sells the same laptops as the brand name companies for much cheaper. Unfortuneately I cant find the link at the moment, but I will post it ASAP.

you may want to check out the laptops at Amazon.
they offer a Compaq Presario 906US Notebook PC (1.33 GHz Athlon XP 1500+, 256MB RAM, 20GB hard drive)
for $897 after mail in rebates.

Do you have desktop that has a monitor or perhaps a spare monitor sitting around? Most laptops have a plug and play VGA connector to hook up an external monitor. If you hooked up a monitor, and it worked, then you know the screen is a goner for sure.
If just the screen is dead, you could use it with just a monitor and it wouldnt be a total loss.

u know i cannot carry it and monitor at the same time
