Daredevil

Just saw the movie tonight - was actually excited about it when I first saw the preview showing on this little screen at the theaters last week. Daredevil was my favorite Marvel hero back in the day (though I did not pursue comics a lot, or even decently). And Jennifer Garner looked pretty good in the previews.

Overall, it didn't disappoint - but it was far from blowing me away. The movie felt like it was too short - and things moved too fast. I think that it was well-done for the most part, but its biggest flaw was that it seemed to try to wrap too many things up in a 100-minute movie. Some fight scenes were a bit cheesy, but overall, it was pretty cool.

One particular aspect of the movie (dealing with Garner's character) did kind of leave me somewhat unfulfilled though. I don't think the implementation of her character into the movie was done too well.

Anyone else get to see it on opening night?

I'm sure plenty of people will make comparisons with Spider-Man, but I haven't seen Spider-Man yet.

Jennifer Garner doesnt need to play a good character to satisfy me

I cant believe Ben Aflec had time to make this movie, especially when he has his hands full of JLo's booty all the time

I may go see it at the movies when I go to San Fransisco in a few weeks. I dont like to go to the theater, but theres one there that I will go to, very nice upscale place. No crying babies.

I doubt though it can even compare to Spiderman, that was just too kickass.

They filmed this movie before him and Jennifer Lopez got together, they got together shooting Kevin Smith's "Jersey Girl"

When the shit is that going to be out anyway?

i saw it last night.

pretty fun but somewhat disapointed, that setup of the characters, some fighting scenes.

ben did good job on facial expression. overall, ok.

It's better than people make out. If you can sit back and enjoy a movie for its entertaining parts, then DD is a good movie. Not great, but good. The movie doesn't take itself too serious, and this is a big plus. There is some quality humor. You'll want to see the movie just to find out what Bullseye can do with a peanut.

IMO, Colin Farrell stole the show as bullseye. Quality.

I think one of the big advantages I had over my friends was that I could remind myself that I was watching an adaptation of a comic book story rather than something that is meant to be taken for real.

Some of my friends afterward mentioned how Spider-Man's way of getting his powers made more sense than Daredevil's. "What part of becoming blind let him jump over rooftops like that? And even Elektra pulled off some of those jumps - where did she learn that?"

I guess you sum that up pretty well, Nova - the movie isn't supposed to be taken seriously. Remind yourself that the stuff that happens isn't supposed to be realistic - but rather, comic superhero-like.

I noticed they seemed to cut corners in the backdrops, like the view from Kingpin's office looked totally flat. Some of the computer generated cutscenes were not done well considering today's technology. I didn't think more of the fight scenes were very good either, except for the first part of DD vs Kingpin. The scene with Elektra's sai through her hand was poor. The sai looked like it was made of rubber when she pulled it out.

Other than a few special effect flaws it was okay.

I saw it opening night, I liked it. The cameo by Kevin Smith was priceless. It did seem a little crammed, but I had the same complaint about X-men, and whatever anyone says, I liked that movie too.

I have heard some pretty bad things about Daredevil and plus the previews were all but impressive. I prob won't be seeing it just cause it was only made because of the success of Spiderman.
Speaking of Spiderman, how did a movie like that gross so much money. The effects were cool without a doubt and the casting was decent but the plot was just God awful. I thought it was pretty boring. So needless to say, Daredevil isn't on my list of must sees.

It's a comic book movie, it's not an adaptation of a great work of literature. It's camp.

Yep, and as I said, knowing that, I had such a great advantage over perhaps half the people in that theater - in terms of enjoying the movie.
