I need one of those, but I would really like to have a copper one. If I really cant get a copper one, then Im going to get the aluminum. I have searched high and low though, with no results. That site there is the only site Ive found that has even an aluminum one, the rest have been all plastic(Bleh!).

Im going to get a ThermalTake SmarFan II /w CoolMod to replace my current CPU fan. The only problem is the Coolmod fan is 80mm and my heatsink only accepts 60mm. I dont want to replace my heatsink, as the one I have now is doing a great job. There just arent really any good socket 423 coolers on the market anymore, except for the Zalmans, but I dont like fan brackets nor do I wanna shell out $35 for one of their others. So Im gonna get an adapter. Im gonna try and run the new fan at probably 32cfm or close to that, which is nearly double the old fans cfm.

This is the heatsink and fan I currently have:

If anyone happen to catch my latest Journal entry, I tried to get one at CompUSA but was unsucessful.

yeah, ive seen those. never seen copper, only aluminum.

Why would you need copper? Any gain you would get from aluminum to copper would be negligible.

Yup. Especially considering it would be only screwed on, and most likely screwed to pieces that aren't flush with its surfaces. The only conduction that would happen is with the air, and air is horrible at it.

copper is too soft and too expensive to use in such a manner. ever seen a copper pop can?

Only the ones that I see in my dreams.

Rofl, look how much this one is!

But anyways, Im going with UV Cold Cathodes in my case, and I found this:

But its plastic. Im wondering though if that would be ok to use. I dont want something that is gonna screw up my heatsink.

the only way it could screw up your heatsink was if it melted. and if it did that, youve got more important things to worry about. how the hell could you possibly screw up a heatsink? you can put the damn things thru the dishwasher if you want to.

whats so exciting about the $20 one? i was expecting $100 from your comment.

Posted by: SKYHN

That $20 one is almost triple the price Ive seen on the other ones.

But anyways, I was meaning if using a plastic one could screw up the way heat would be handled by the heatsink, since it would be fastened onto the heatsink and making direct contact with it.

ah, you do not understand heatsinks. ok. see those vanes? the ones that can cut you? those are what dissipate heat. as long as there is airflow over them, and they are clean, they are working. you may samba on this heatsink, as long as its in good contact with the cpu, the vanes are clean, and there is airflow over the vanes.

Are you still looking for these? They don't have copper ones, but the others are just ~$3.
