PITTSBURGH, Pennsylvania (CNN) -- Fred Rogers, better known as television's "Mister Rogers," a cultural icon and kindly neighbor to generations of American children, died Thursday at the age of 74.

His was one of my favorite shows when I was a wee one. Whether you loved, hated, or thought he was boring, you gotta respect his work.

Maybe you should pick younger idols. 
I remember I used to watch a lot of his show when I was a kid... with my sister - Mr. Rogers, Reading Rainbow, that show about Thomas the train engine and the other one...
