Though i feel very old for saying this,I don't realy know what 1337 is but i thought the pics were cool . Cool now see thats a nornal word 1337? I don't get it bah.

Posted by: MK

You old'un...1337 = leet = elite

Posted by: Chako

What? You mean it has nothing to do with IEEE standard 1394 (firewire), or IEEE 1284 (standard bidirectional parallel port)! Somehow I feel antiquated like Druidess now...

Posted by: Gerbilo

lol, i dunno but i just put it there

Posted by: Arta

lol, that mac one is classic!

Posted by: Hackenslacker

I'm the only Mac user here, right?
*sniff*

I'm planning on building a PC though, when I get some money, anyway.
When I do, I'll come and ask tons of really stupid questions like "What do I need a motherboard for?" and "What do you mean, 'proc'?"
or, at least, I'll dig out that image i got of a list of comp parts I need.
after that i'll buy them and start glueing them together.

Posted by: Canis Lupus

... join the dark side... it is your dessstiny....

Posted by: Gerbilo

haha, glue them together, lol.....
building a PC isn't that hard, working out problems is the hard part lol, read laggys guide hehe

laggy, i thought we were the good guys?
it's not wednesday so it ain't opposite day(or hump daylol)

Posted by: kitsune-fox

Bad Gerbilo! Thou shalt not insult the holy Mac! (unless it's one of those new ugly multicolored iMacs)

*begins to hunt Gerbilo*

Actually, I was the proud owner of a Mac laptop about 7 years ago. Loved the thing. Only puter that apologized when the batteries ran out. Then I got smart, bought a Pentium 100, ditched the Mac, bought Diablo. The rest is history...much like the Mac...chuckles.
Actually, if you glue all your PC add-on cards into their AGP, PCI and maybe ISA slots, then you have just mimicked the upgradability of the Mac! Brilliant idea!

Posted by: kitsune-fox

Grrr...

Macs are actually quite upgradeable these days (excepting the iMac and Cube).
Modern Mac RAM: PC100/133
Modern Mac Upgrade slots: PCI and AGP
USB Included on all new and recent Macs
FireWire built in to some models

Older machines may have been a bit harder to upgrade, I have a 1996-era Mac, but it still has PCI slots and a processor mounted on a daughtercard that can be replaced with one of several third-party processor daughtercards.
If I want USB/FireWire? I get a PCI card. Hard Drive? Built-in SCSI. RAM? That's a leetle more expensive for my model though...

PCs may be upgradeability kings, but Macs aren't very hard to upgrade either. AND Macs don't fall victim to that 'Plug and Pray' stuff. http://www.agillette.com/images/moon[1].gif

laggy, what are you talking about, get your mind out of the gutter, hump day, its the middle of the weak, the hump you must get over, past that it is down hill

sheesh, some people always thinking bad...

Lol, I was referring to the IMac and Cube, both big mistakes IMHO. Do they still sell Macs without a keyboard and mouse? When I was into them, that was the way they sold those things. You bought the case, then you had to buy a keyboard and a mouse (the monitor never comes with them, so I won’t even mention that). Yes your right, they are easier to use, because of the lack of third party peripherals that go with them. When you get less hardware to put into your box, it simplifies the complexities tremendously in the long run. I am not putting them down…I owned one several years back, and I know how good their computers are. Just don’t let them tell you they invented the wysiwyg (what you see is what you get) OS format. They just licensed it off of Xerox. Got to love Steve Jobes for saying that one!

Posted by: kitsune-fox

Yes, I acknowledge that the iMac and the Cube are flops regarding upgradeability (due to their tremendous lack thereof) and that Steve Jobs didn't come up with the whole GUI idea on his own.
Fortunately, most Macs are not impossible to upgrade like the iMacs and Cubes.
Selling Macs without mice and keyboards? I've never heard of anything like that.

I am talking mid 80's. One of my University professors had a Lisa computer (the very first Mac) because everyone in the Biology dept. at the time went Macomania. He remembers paying $15,000 for it! It didn't come with a keyboard or a mouse, let alone the monitor. Now with the iMac and Cube....I wouldn't even look at a new Mac because they push a pretty form factor over common sense. There is an architects saying that states "form follows function". I think the iMac and Cube follows form much more then function. I am glad to hear you are staying with the towers...they are a much better computer in terms of form and function.

I use a desktop lol, which isn't quite as upgradeable as a tower but it's upgradeability is still decent (and a whole lot more upgradeable than the iMacs and Cube)

Posted by: MK

Me? Grounded and having a life Why, do ya miss me? heh..would you like me to post some pictures? haha..Laggy, how about we have a new forum *hint hint* muahahaha.
