GTA 2 Network problems...

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

Ok , I installed Grand Theft Auto 2 on both my computers..

These computers are networked through a D-Link Router...

Problem :

I go into GTA 2 Manager I create a game on TCP/IP.
My bro joins it with his comp and then I click on START.
It worked fine until we shut it off and came back to play the next day.

I come back start an IP game... HE joins I click on START

and a few seconds after it starts loading we both hear a 'ding' sound and an error message saying

(Depending on the level we choose)

Example : SIMON's Level 11 : wil-multi.gmp is different.

If we change level it'll be a diffrent .gmp...

I reinstalled it on both computers ...

I even tried sharing the hard drive of the fastest computer and loading them both on it... SAME THING....

Does anyone know of what I can do... I mean it worked fine once .. Why would it stop the next day ...

Hello,
Ah the joys of LANning! I got a D-LINK router aswell. Pinging results in absolutely nothing, doesn;t mean you cant see each other!

Ok this is what you should do;
1.Check for any firewalls goin on, turn em off. Some anti-virus progs have built-in firewalls like PC-CILLIN, check that.
2.Try IPX(if any) and make sure the protocols are installed.
3.In the router, access the interface software(its a website on mine, type the ip address in IE) and then go into a section like "Applications" and add GTA 2 with all the settings (ports etc..)

Hope it helps
