Webopedia is a very useful online utility for those who wish to learn more about what various computer terms stand for. It also lists some links to terms which can help a lot if you're researching computer related topics. Here's an example of how it works. I'll ask it what TCP/IP means..
Abbreviation for Transmission Control Protocol/Internet Protocol, the suite of communications protocols used to connect hosts on the Internet. TCP/IP uses several protocols, the two main ones being TCP and IP. TCP/IP is built into the UNIX operating system and is used by the Internet, making it the de facto standard for transmitting data over networks. Even network operating systems that have their own protocols, such as Netware, also support TCP/IP.
Besides describing a definition, the search engine will also include several links to online resources for anyone wanting to understand more about it. Very useful indeed.
