Yess!!

http://a12.g.akamaitech.net/7/12/62...urquecup_ht.jpg

Ray Bourque got his first taste of a title in 22 seasons, Patrick Roy redeemed himself and a surprising source helped the Avalanche cap their incredible playoff run. The Stanley Cup is back in Colorado after a commanding 3-1 win over New Jersey on Saturday. Winger Alex Tanguay scored twice for the Avs, who won their first Cup since 1996. Roy also won the Conn Smythe Trophy as the playoffs MVP.

Posted by: redwench

you posted hockey pics? are you nuts?

*spanks gerbilo*

who the hell cares about hockey? or any other sport for that matter.

Posted by: Null Actor

I have an urge to lock this thread... but since it's in this forum...

Hockey blows. What a waste of time.

Posted by: Chako

Quick....someone take the cut and past feature from Gerby so he can't post any more pictures here! Hocky? OF all things........

Posted by: Spider

Only thing wrong with hockey right now, is that the Avs won the Stanley cup.

Posted by: Gerbilo

you people can all cram it!!!

Posted by: KickingBird

*frowns*

That IS the stanley cup. In HOUSTIN?

Not being a hockey fan or anything, but geeze...I've met people who talked to people that have seen people eat their breakfast shreddies in that thing...

I say we mount an expedition, and go down there and beat us up some Americans and TAKE BACK OUR CUP.

*starts putting his thumb on the side of his nose and making sniffing noises*

Put em up, PUT EM UP!!! GROWLLE!! !!SNORT!! FROTH!!

Posted by: Gerbilo

dude, it's on colorado now, and colorado used to be quebec nordiques or how ever you spell it

Posted by: Spider

Dude! I just saw on NBC earlier, they named a street after borque

"Ray Borque blvd"

I can't believe that shit! Someone is smoking crack in this town!

Posted by: Kull

If the Av's won, we'd never hear the end of it about Ray Bourque.

Maybe there was a good reason why he didn't win the cup for 22 years. Yeah blah blah, he wins a cup finally, so now its gonna be all over the news and what not. And naming a street after him, that is just insane

If they make this much noise about Bourque winning the Stanley Cup, I'd hate to think what would have happened if Dan Marino actually won a Superbowl

Posted by: Spider

lol
Well said
I still can't believe they changed a street name to name it after him.

Posted by: Gerbilo

bourque>marino

Posted by: Chako

Bah! Hockey is for the birds!

Posted by: Spider

Nah Gerb, bourque=marino=suckage

Posted by: Gerbilo

cram it with walnuts ugly!

Posted by: Foogar

Ok, the King's didn't win it... I can get over that since I haven't watched a game in over 3 years now. What's with naming a street after the guy tho? C'Mon people, get real!!! I'd be HIGHLY pissed off if the street I'm on suddenly became (insert sports type persons name here) Blvd. I'm still very upset about the naming of some highways after politians! Just what I want to see going down the road is a sign saying 'Senator Blah Blah Highway'! Nameing roads after presidents that ACTUALLY DID SOMETHING for the nation is one thing, but this crap kills me!

Someone kill me now!

Posted by: Canis Lupus

nice av Foog

Posted by: Spider

mmmm...Walnuts...

Posted by: Gerbilo

johnny bravo right?

Posted by: Canis Lupus

Of course it's Johnny

Posted by: redwench

i think that you should have to be dead for 25 years before you can have ANYTHING named after you. that would stop a lot of this silliness. and yes, that includes former presidents.

Posted by: Gerbilo

down in peoria IL they were trying to get a street named after richard pryor but they said he was a bad influence or something and it didn't get passed.

Posted by: SuperSlinky

That's because Richard Pryor used to have big problems with the nose candy

~Superslinky (newbie scum)

Posted by: Gerbilo

hehehe. exactly

Posted by: Hackenslacker

"Did you eat paint chips when you were a kid?"
"You mean wall candy?"

Posted by: Gerbilo

hehehe, mmmmm lead

Posted by: Gerbilo

now to get this back on subject, i say go avs!

Posted by: AK47

Oh boy. Let me start out by saying I am one of the biggest hockey fans in the world. I have no way to prove this, but lets just say that I love hockey more than life.

Begin rant-

As I was reading this thread, I was somewhat upset by the disrespect that hockey was recieving. BUT, everyone has their own oppinions. I can dig that. Lots of people dont like hockey. I hate baseball- lots of people like it. Its all a matter of tastes.

However- nobody should ever disrespect Ray Bourque. Ray Bourque has been my favorite hockey player ever since I can remember. This man is not only one of the greatest hockey players ever (second in defense only to bobby orr- like any of you people know who he is) but he is also one of the greatest pro athletes ever, both on and off the ice. He is the kindest most likeable person sports has ever known, and for you all to disrespect him and ***** and moan about him getting a street named after him is just nonsense. Who deserves a street named after them?? Martin Luther King jr? Michael Jordan? Abraham Lincoln? who is to say. The people of Denver love Ray Bourque. That is enough to warrant a street naming.

As you can see, I am just totally pissed off by the lack of respect given to Ray Bourque. He worked his entire career for one thing- the stanley cup. And you all have the balls to criticize him when he wins it? What a bunch of degenerates. Be happy for the man. Im pretty sure none of you have ever worked so hard for something like Ray did.

By the way- gerbilo- great picture.
http://a12.g.akamaitech.net/7/12/62...urquecup_ht.jpg
I'll admit it- I cried when I saw Ray lift the cup. yeah, I know this will make me look like a big pansie, but I dont give a shit. Oh and by the way- I did think the coverage bourque got during the finals was too much, but- does anyone remember John Elway- same shit there. And I have a feeling he has a street or two named after him somewhere.

Posted by: Gerbilo

hehehe, yeah, its a conincidence that our posts are so close and that he supposedly can't post cause he is in hawaii, *wink*

Posted by: Spider

I'm in Denver...and John Elway sucks

Posted by: Kull

Bobby Orr played for the Bruins
He is the man that they show on the highlight scoring the goal and then flying through the air.

I know hockey.
I am a big fan of hockey, been a New York Ranger Fan my whole life. When Wayne Gretzky left hockey for good, I felt that his retirement was overplayed on the media, which is the whole point of my rant. Never would I ever disrespect any hockey player...well except Eric Lindros and the former Philly player Bobby Clarke. I hate them, but besides them, I would not disrespect them, there is no point in it. I just hate media coverage that goes on and on and on and on and on....get my point.

Another example...Tiger Woods.
I hate Tiger Woods now, all because Sportscenter has to mention him millions of times in their show.

Posted by: MK

What's Avs stand for? Avengers or something?

Posted by: Spider

The Colorado Avalanche

Posted by: MK

Dumb name..dumb sport

Posted by: AK47

Wow Kull. I couldnt agree with you more. the Gretzky ceremony was waaaaay too much. The freakin drove a benz on the ice for him!! cmon now, this is hockey. Secondly. Bob Clarke and Lindross are the scum of the earth. that bastard clarke especialy. When Neilson was fired- clarke actually said "Its not my fault he got cancer" what an *******. Oh, and finally- yes- i hate itger woods. Know why? the damn media. *cough sportscenter cough* That rich punk is soo so overplayed on the news, I cant stand him.
Anyways- Kull, I think you and I are very similar. I have much respect for you (if that means anything)

btw- you have a gorge carlin quote fo your signature! Awesome I just read hisnew book Napalm and Silly Putty. Awesome. Better than his first. In fact I had a quote of his that I was gonna make my signature. Wow Kull, I think we were seperated at birth or somthin.

Posted by: Kull

Tiger Woods is only a kid with a lot of money getting a lot of media coverage. It sickens me to have to listen to him. It is even worse when...pains me to even say it.....that he is the most dominant "athlete" out there today. I very much respect golf players. Gives old guys a reason to wear funny pants and do something in their retirement. It is also a way to relax. But for a golfer to be considered the most dominant athlete today?? WTF is that. It is insane.

I have a website that has all kinds of Carlin Quotes, but I don't know how appropiate it would be to link it here, so I will send it via private message...ENJOY!

Posted by: Bishop

Posted by: Kull

Gerbilo,
I had a good time. Nice to meet ya man, and your always welcome down here in Florida.

Next time your down here, I'll make sure I get you free tickets to Universal, and discounts to the other parks

Posted by: Shalome

We have hockey in the States? Hmm. I'll have to remember that.

Now back to enjoying the 95 degree, 98% humidity days here in Missouri.

Posted by: Kull

Yes, Hockey is in the states

More in the states now than in Canada...go figure

Posted by: MK

Shalome, good time to get a crispy tan

Posted by: Gerbilo

yeah AK, i'm here, i even got your cousin signed up here heheh

yeah Kull, nice meeting you too. I dunno the next time i'll be down there in FL. Probably not for a while though. It was fun though

Posted by: AK47

the NHL in Canada is quite endangered. Last year, there were big talks about moving all the canadian teams into the US. I believe it was something to do with the Canadian governement not wanting to support the teams. It was something like that. They were all gonna go broke. Well, those talks have quieted and now the flames, canadians and canucks can go back to sucking.

BTW- Ray Bourque retired today. What a career.

1st in every defensive scoring category except playoff points (2nd to Coffey).
Even more amazing- second in assists- for both forwards and defensemen- only to Wayne Gretzky.
And 1 Stanley Cup. = one of the best players ever to play the game.

Posted by: Null Actor

god dammit! get this shitty ass hockey crap outta my forum! take it to a sports bar or something...

Posted by: Canis Lupus

LOL

Well, at least someone's actually ranting for a change

Posted by: Gerbilo

screw you nova, you tree huggin hippie!!

yay AK

Posted by: AK47

Hahaha. Hockey is the shit. I'm real tempted to post all of the picks in the NHL 2001 entry draft. don't wet your pants Nova, and quit b*tching.

Posted by: Kull

How bout them Islanders!!!!

even though I hate them, they are shaping up to have a pretty good team so far with the additions of Yashin and Peca.

Go figure...heh

Posted by: AK47

The Islanders made 2 good moves there. I personally dont like Yashin (his holdout in 99-00 p*ssed me off) but he is exactly what NY needs- goals. Hopefully he will produce for them. As for pecca- what a pick up! I really think he is awesome. He is one tough bas+ard who can score on occasioin. I also think the Islanders are fairly good in net too. Luongo showed that he can be a starter and that all he needs is decent team around him. Looks like its coming together for the islanders. Wait a sec, I think they traded luongo to Florida. Hmmmm... disregard that last sentice. The Islanders have Rick DiPietro- the first pick last year. He spent last year in the now de-funct IHL playing for the Chicago Wolves. lets hope he can play decent.

BTW- I think Forida made and awesome move in getting Valeri Bure. Wow, both Bure brothers on one team. Remember the 99-00 all star game. they were on the same team there and pavel ended up with a hat trick and the game's MVP. 2 or 3 of the goals were assisted by his brother. Look out, they are gona be insane.

Finally, Roman Turek was traded from the Blues. Its true that he was unstable in big games, but cmon, it wasnt his fault the blues couldnt score against the avs. Damn, I forgot who the blues got for him, it was another Tkachuk and some washed up goaltender. oh well, sorry blues fans- bad goaltending=no cup.

Well, thats all the NHL news I have for now. Check back later for more updates

Posted by: Kull

I knew about the Bure brothers going together months ago.

Awesome move if you ask me, but it still won't be what Florida needs to be a contender again. Trevor Kidd will never be the same goaltender he was. I did not know Turek was traded, but that was to be expected. But it says he was traded to Calgary...that I find very amusing.

All the Rangers did was pick up another goaltender in Blackburn...I think that was who they picked up. Looks to me like that was a good draft pickup...but, I have seen what the Rangers do in the past with young goaltenders...Cough Dan Cloutier Cough. They trade them away to bad teams. Oh well, at least they won a cup in 1994

Posted by: AK47

About the Panthers, its tough to say. They are in the easiest division in the league- where the only good team is one of my faves- Washington Capitals. However, their goaltending is their weakest link. Luongo was fairly solid near the end of last year. If he pulls a Brian Boucher (sp?) and has a breakout season, look for the panthers to go far. However, the Capitals are a very good team which will make winning the division tough. Like Chris Berman says "thats why they play the game!"

As far as teh Rangers go, ugh. What a mess there. Theo Fleury played amazing this last year, but it wasnt enough. It all boiled down to Richter. A healthy Mike Richter is enouh, An injured Richter isnt. btw: is Theo coming back? I recon he will after his re-hab, but I have heard rumors that he is done. oh well, even with messier, I dont see the Rangers in the post season any time soon.

GO BRUINS!

Posted by: Kull

Just a quick note

the panthers goalie is trevor kidd, not roberto luongo.

been away this whole weekend, went to a braves/mets game.

brian boucher is the correct spelling also, but that was two years ago with the flyers. last year was czechmonic (that spelling is wrong)

and last bit of news i heard, Roenick signed with the flyers.
BOOO!!!!

Posted by: Gerbilo

wait, what happened with hasek, i thought i saw that he was traded or something

Posted by: Kull

Hasek to Detriot for Slava Kozlov..

guess this means you can kiss Osgood goodbye.

Posted by: AK47

yeah kull, Kidd is in Fl. but I think Luongo is there too.

oh well, doesnt matter!!!!!
The AVS just signed Blake, Roy, and Sakic to multi-year deals!!!! How do you spell franchise!

Roenick to the flyers..that made me angry too. There were talks of him going to det. Man that would have really made me angry. He belongs in Chicago. Stupid ass Wertz. Doesnt want to pay roenick 4 mil, but he pays Zhamnov 4.5 mil. oh well- AVS BABY!!

Posted by: Kull

Yep, and Doug Weight is on St. Louis and Pierre Turgeon went to Dallas.

All the good ones are taken now, which means the only two left are Jagr and Lindros...which Lindros is a waste anyways.

So that means, if Lindros is a waste, he will end up on the Rangers.

Posted by: AK47

yeah, Lindross is a chump. the flyers wont miss him at all now that they have roenick and primeau.

Jags to the rangers. you can bet on that. Im almost positive on that. They will take over his contract that he has going with the pens (2 years left). I really dont think jagr is the best player in the league- far from it. If I was building a team, Id build it around a more rounded player like Forsberg. In my opinion- forsberg is a better player than jags. Jagr is over-rated. Yeah he leads the league in points, but he is just missing something. I dunno, thats just me.

Posted by: Gerbilo

OK, thanks for the news hehe,
osgood? pah heheh
wirtz is a dumbass, i know that much

Posted by: AK47

jags to the caps!!!!!!

well I was wrong about the rangers, but boy am I glad!! WOOO HOOO!! one of my favorite teams gets the leagues leading scorer (just what they needed!) I think Jagr coming to town will make Oates change his mind about leaving. Just think, Bondra and Jags being fed by the best set up man since Gretz!! Oh man, just what the caps needed. All that plus kolzig in net and the fact that they are in the easiest division...oh man. caps in 2002!! (maybe not, but they sure as hell can get there now) lets just hope that Jags can fit in with the Caps defensive play (maybe wilson will re-think that style )

Posted by: Gerbilo

yup, i heard it on the news, i figured you would already know though heh.
