Setting up an FTP(or similar)

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

Since AIM doesnt work with Firewalls, Im trying to find another way to transfer files to people(friends, family).

I need something that works with a firewall. I just thought of setting up an FTP(I dont know how to do that though) but I dont know if that would work with a firewall. Does anyone know of a program that does?

You need FTP server software to start an FTP server, like Serv-U or Bulletproof/G6. Those programs are usually not free though. They do work with firewalls if you open the port it uses (default is port 21).

Depending on how big the things you want to send are, you could just use your ISP's free webspace (if you have any).

I did get a free 500mb Yahoo briefcase with my ISP, but its really flaky. I stopped using it because I had problems setting viewing permissions and other things.
