Can't reload Win98

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

I'm trying to reload Win98 because of a corrupt registry, but when I try to launch the setup, the pc just hangs there.

I've booted from the startup disk, but when I try to start the setup from the Win98 CD, the computer just hangs there. Likewise, when I try to boot from the cd, all I get is a blinking cursor.

Now all you can do is a clean install of sindows98 you need an emergency startup disk with cd=rom support,

boot the computer with the startup disk

at the A prompt format C:

then go to the cd-Rom drive and start the install.

Thanks for the advice. I tried swapping cd-rom drives first, which solved the problem. Wierd because I could read all the files from the old cd drive, but it just wouldn't run the setup.
