Java Environment in XP

Is there anyway I can get the java web environment to function (aka Java Virtual Machine) without installing the .NET framework?

I know that Microsoft no longer distributes JVM. Does Sun have anything available to serve this purpose?

Hrmmm. Didn't notice that when I checked Sun earlier. Must not have looked very hard.

Thanks.

Yuck. I hate Sun's java software. Is there anyway to stop it from opening its own little icon in the taskbar that takes focus away from the current window?

Don't know what you're talking about. It's doing no such thing for me.

Meh.. I'm just going to reinstall it, if I can
