My husband went to reformat our computer and didn't uninstall Norton Antivirus & Norton Utilities. Now the computer won't let us do anything. It comes up with an error about Norton Ghost 6.03. We didn't even know we had Norton Ghost on the computer. It is a PC using Windows ME. Does anyone know a way around this? Norton is no help at all. They just keep sending us from one department to another. I can't believe a $30 software program is keeping me from using my $1200 computer!! Thanks!

sounds like your trying to format your hard drive in windows. you can't format the drive that windows is loaded on with windows running.
this Guide should help you format your hard drive so that you can do a fresh install of ME.
before you do any of this, be aware that all information on your hard drive will be erased by formatting, so if your computer will do anything at all in windows right now, try to back up any personal information that you feel you must keep.
Edit............just thought of this after i posted this! if your computer is a Gateway, Compaq, or something similar, you may have bought it with Windows pre-loaded and it probably did not come with the Windows CD. if this is the case, the first thing you may want to try would be a System Restore. if you computer did not come with the windows cd, it probably did come with a system restore disc, or if you can still do anything in windows now, you can go through the Start menu................Start, programs, accessories, system tools, then system restore. it should allow you to choose an earlier date to restore your computer to, when it was working properly.
