Red Faction 2

I am having troubles getting Red Faction 2 installed. My fiance bought the game for me for Easter (woohoo) and we're all excited to see it but we can't even get it to install.

I have an Athlon 2000 w/512 mb/RAM, a GeForce 4 card and a 40gb d: drive. I still have a little c:\ drive of about 6 gigs that I haven't copied over to the d: drive. That is where Windows ME and all of my setup stuff is installed. All games go to the d: drive which has 26gigs available.

So far on this computer I can put in Disk 1 for Red Faction II and about 50% of the time it starts. If it does, it starts the InstallShield wizard, starts running up it's task meter, then pops up an error that says I have other copies of the game running and to close them or call THQ. I can assure you this game is NOT a copy, my fiance has the receipt, he bought it at EB Games. I read an earlier post that was not answered because the poster was using a copy. This is the real thing.

Games I have successfully installed and run/ran on this machine: RTCW, MOHAA, MOHSpearhead, NOLF1 & 2, AVP2, etc. I've never had something just not install.

Any suggestions? Also- I tried what the game manual suggested and went to START, and RUN and typed in e:\setup.exe. I get a WIN32 error then. I have rebooted several times and done a ctrl+alt+del to see if anything weird was running in Task Manager...

Thanks in advance

Turn off autorun, reboot, then try again.
