Hey everyone, strange problem with my monitor here.
I had just turned on my computer and the monitor had a "NO SIGNAL" screen. SO i pressed the enter button- Nope, nothing. Afterwards I tried turning off the power, Taking out a bridge of ram, Turning power back on.. Putting ram back in.. Rebooting.. Nothing worked.. (This worked last time with same problem) Also. the computer.. It makes the noises as if it's going to start up.. except, after a while it stops.. Like. I know for a fact the computer isn't running without the monitor to see what's going on.. Any Reccomendations?
BTW this happened SUDDENLY.- One night, Im playin Daoc, next morning, I'm crying over a bowl of cereal.

Speedy answers are appreiciated, thanks again everyone.

Your computer doesn't need to be hooked up to your monitor in order for it to work.
Check to see if your monitor's cable is securely fastened to your video card on the back of your computer.
You also mentioned that you tried taking out a bridge of ram and then putting it back in, but before putting it back in you said "Turned power back on"... I hope you don't mean that you actually installed the RAM with the power on, do you?

check both ends of the video cable. if that doesnt help, you lost a hunk o hardware. check your budget.

I didnt put it on. And both ends of the cable? What do you mean.. I'm going to try removing and putting in my Vid card.. somethings gonna work.. Things dontjust stop working
Thanks tho =(

most video cables have a plug on each end.
and yes, things do just stop working. ever flipped a light switch and have the bulb blow as it comes on? or not come on at all?

::Sigh:: Tried the monitor on this computer.. (Looking at it now), and it's working.. - I've had this problem before.. i Solved it by removing RAM or something.. ANY suggestions?! Please?

look, it could be anything. the cpu, the ram, the motherboard, the video card, even the cable. test the video card first. but unless you were fooling around in the bios lately, better check the old wallet.

SOS!! I bought a new video card.. And then I put it in the AGP slot.. Still nothing.. So out of desperation I tried taking all the ram out and putting in one bridge of 256.. So. THen I try it - BINGO!.. Power off. Put all the ram in.. Power up..
So Im about to log onto internet explorer.. when I deicide to Open AIM at the same time..
NOT ENOUGH MEMORY- Please Close one or more already open programs.. WTF?!
Restart..
64.00 MB DDR RAM..
UHH?!?!?! WHAT THE?! I tried taking them out, putting in diff order, putting only one in!! Help! Whats happened?!

BTW-
2 of the ram sticks are exacly alike..
The third one is extremely similar..
THEY HAVE WORKED TOGETHER ALL THREE OF THEM
to produce 768DDR RAM.. so.. I'd suspect they'd work again..

er.....you may have cooked your ram. or the slots on the motherboard.
this is going to be quite tedious. you need to try every stick in each slot. one at a time. when you find a pair that works, write it down and continue.

Redwench, you're the most pesimistic person i've ever met............ Ever.
Well... About your ram, yeah.. you're probably dead.. But you can try shooting yourself in the head and see if you die.. Then you'll know that you were alive.
Bad bad analogy..
Can you please lie to me? Just lie? Everything'll be alright, derm =).. Everything will be fine..

lol
it could just be one stick thats bad. you wont know until you test them all.

The rest of the computer works, So im not sure if it's the motherboard... One of the little fans hasnt been working well on the motherboard.. So i've opened up my computer and Put a Huge fan outside of it and kept it running 24/7.. I Dont think it's the motherboard though.. Gonna try your ram thing To a fuller extent..
Otherwise gonna have to return old card and buy a new motherboard, call in some favors and get it fixed.. Must be getting punished for the SWG thing..

The fact that the rest of the computer works does not necessarily mean that your motherboard's RAM slots are working fine.
And just because you solved the situation last time by removing your RAM (as you like to repeat) doesn't mean you're having the same situation this time.
Nor does it mean that you should ignore any possibilities or suggestions you get.
Hell, maybe your problem was just a loose video cable at first, but when you jumped to the conclusion that it was your RAM, you might have messed it up when removing it and re-installing it so many times.
You DO know that it's quite easy to mess up a stick of RAM just by static discharge from your hands, right?
Posted by: Dermslash
Yes of course, I always make sure to drain my hands of static electricity before handling computer equipment.. just.. Ya know.. Such a pain in the ass to get a new Motherboard =(.. I'm pretty sure that's it too..
There was this small fan not working on it 24/7.. sometimes it would stop, it was kinda close to the ram, I think this might have to do with it... Tried everything.. Nothing seems to work - I guess it's the motherboard......... ::uhg:: I'm going to test the RAM on this computer just to make sure.. If it's the RAM i'm seriously ****ed. 768 Doesn't come easy (Cash wise)..
Hopefully I can get a motherboard for around 100$..
Thanks alot guys.. Used to think this board gave you worthless answers, but we were all drawing towards the same conclusion.. Anyway, damn Ram isn't quite so fragile as you think. My dumb friend kept his in a tool box with rattily nails and shook it up before by accident.. HAD It go into the Washing machine with his pants.. Drop it out of his pocket and have someone step on it.. And it still worked, incredible, huh?
Anyway... ::Cry::-- hey where's the tech support bannana?
