Keyboard problem on Abit KT7a

Hey,
I have a problem with my keyboard.
It is the same problem as in the Spider's post "Keyboard problems".
I am running a Athlon 1.2Ghz on a Abit KT7a motherboard.
The problem is that every few hours my keyboard gets cut of. At first I would just restart the computer and everything would be fine. Lately not even that would help, but when I restart, the keyboard lights would flash once, but after that they keyboard would not respond.
I tried changing the keyboard and found that that would only unfreeze my PS/2 and I could use any keyboard again....for few hours!...
Lately not even that would help. now whenevr my keyboard freezes I simply keep unpluging it and pluging it back in until it responds which can take a while. every time I plug the keyb in, the lights flash once, but that does not mean that the keyboard it working.
This is getting very tedious...
Anyone got any ideas?
Thanx

Did you try another keyboard? Maybe this one's just going bad.

abit are crappy manufacturers, sorry, but its true
I have an abit myself, and guess what, my ps2 ports broke down. Both.
Then I had to bust my ass to make the USB ports work. They worked ok for 2 monts. And then they broke. Both.
Finally I got an pci=>Usb device. And thats what ive been using ever since. One of the usb ports has broken, so I am using my usb mouse connected to the USB KB.
never ever buy abit shitty products again

I have an Abit KT7A-RAID and both of my PS2 ports have died. I wouldn't go so far as Praetor has in bashing Abit for it, I've had no problems over the last year or so using my USB ports and that's the extent of my problems with their products.
But anyway, if your keyboard has a USB connector I would recommend installing it there.
Or if the motherboard is relatively new you could consider returning it RMAing it or whatever.
Have you tried hooking up a second keyboard to it? Making sure it is the motherboard and not the keyboard before you do anything is probably a good bet.

Yes, I tried another keyboard...
Lately the problem has actually been occuring less frequently.
The only confusing this is that even now Im using my keyboard all fine. But then at once it will just stop responding. Then I have to unplug it and plug it back in few times until it works again.
In the worst case I have to restart the computer few times!
So, I cant just say that the PS/2 is completely dead.

I've been on this ABIT board for a good year, and have had no problems with it.
You guys sure you're not hot-plugging too much?

Yes. But like I say, I have no problems using the USB connectors now.
