"Fun with sound" or "HOW DO I USE SPEAKER?"

Hey guys! You KNOW you love my questions! So I was playing D2 and suddenly the my brothers crappy compaq speaker stopped working, just stopped playing sound. Since I knew it was going to happen eventually, (It IS compaq after all, and the other speaker was already dead) I dont care much about that. However! I do like to hear the noises this computer makes, and music, music is always good. So in an effort to continue my listening pleasure, I stole the spekers from my old Gateway and plugged them in. (Altec Lansing ACS40's) I didn't think they'd work right off, (and I was right) so I go to the company website, and I'm looking around, I find installation guides and things, but nothing on the speakers I'm holding. They list OLDER speakers there, but apparently mine are the bastard children of Satan or something, and cannot be mentioned by name. So what I'm wondering is this: can I get these old things to work? Or would I be better tossing my brother into the nearest mall or Radio shack, and telling him he cant come home until he gets new speakers?

Hey, nevermind, they work now... don't exactly know how I managed that... but, Oh well
