Notebook bios reset
(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

I have a problem with my Packard Bell Easy One notebook. I changed the bios password to nothing (i.e. no characters) as I didn't want to use this feature any more but now I am locked out (the old password doesn't work either obviously).
I thought OK take out the motherboard battery and let it reset.
Problem is I cannot find the battery. I am familiar with desktop pc batteries (like big watch batteries nowadays) but can't find anything similar in my notebook. It is only partially unassembled as I want to be able to put it back together but I can see almost everything.
Any advice? Which board will it be on what might it look like? Do laptops have motherboard batteries?
Cheers

Try typing "bell9"
Also, check this page and see if anything here helps:

Note the topic near the bottom that says "Using the Motherboard 'Clear CMOS' Jumper or Dipswitch settings" ... good luck

Hi Wolf
Thanks for the prompt help.
bell9 didn't work but reading the link you gave cleared my mind and I rang technical support again. This time they were able to tell me where to look for the battery. It turns out to be a pack wired to a daughterboard at the front by two little wires (I've seen this arrangement once before long ago on a desktop motherboard). The pack is well hidden and tucked into the front of the case closer to the right hand speaker. I was only sure it was the battery after I found that it had approx. 4V coming from it (after it was unplugged). Anyway the bios is discharging/resetting at this very moment (I hope). I'll put it all back together in a few hours and see if I can get back into the bios.
Cheers
Nick
