My right speaker. I love it, I hate it. See, these speakers were shipped with my computer that I got right before Diablo 2 was released. I simply refuse to get new speakers, because they are 3/4ths good still.

Allow me to explain. This is my computer setup:

COMPUTER IS NOT REALLY BLUE OK

The right speaker will periodically STOP ALL SOUND. The strange thing is that if I was to plug in headphones to it, they will start to work again. The only reason I did that was to check which side was the right side and which was the left on a pair of headwhones which dont have the small L and R on the sides. That's when the problem started, midway into some stupid song, I plugged in the headphones. When I took them out, the right speaker just stopped. Instantly, I plugged the headphones back in. Don't ask why, I just did. Midway into plugging it back in, the sound came back fully. This was before the sound went directly to the headphones, but AFTER the metal touched the jack.

So, for some reason, whenever the sound goes out, all i have to do to get it to work again is touch the inside with some kind of object. For the last week it has been a pencil. I have successfuly used pencils, pens, a nail, and even MY OWN FINGER. Just touching it will often start the sound up. I have gone for three days without the sound being messed up.

The best thing that has worked so far was to put a bic pen into the speaker (because those pens are useless for anything else) and let it kind of hang on it. The sound didn't cut out for those three days. I have an illustration of it below, but with a pencil and not a bic pen. Do not let this confuse you:

My question: WHY IS IT DOING THIS

Thanks in advance.

because you have ****ed up cheap ass speakers.

it happens ^^

just keep a bic handy and dont worry about it. short of complete disassembly and reassembly of said speakers, nothing can be done.

Could be that the mic jack is grounding itself against something in the speakers. You could try opening the speakers and making sure there isn't something pressing against the jack on the inside.

Save up 30 dollars so you can buy speakers with a subwoofer.

I think Nova is correct though.

Those speakers look an awful lot like the pair of $7 Harmon Kardons I bought awhile back...
