Quake 1 server help? (More than 4 players?)

Hey, was just hoping if anyone could help me out. A bunch of friends and I have started to play Quake 1 networked again (its a classic!) but we were unable to set the server to allow more than 4 players... We searched online and tried a few command lines ie: listen or dedicated ..etc, but no luck.
Could anyone help us out?

You need a copy of the Quakeworld Client and Server if you want to run the bigger games.
