browser window pop-up ads

Every so often, I will get a browser window pop-up on my screen containing some stupid advertisement even though i hae no open internet explorer windows. I have already asked before about getting rid of these pop-up ads and people suggested Spybot. I ran this program and deleted all the stuff it found, but I am still getting the ads. I also have cleared out any unusual entries in Add/REmove Programs. What else could it possibly be? Any ideas? And is there any way to track what program might be causing these windows to be created?

thanks,
Kevin

Make sure to close any programs that are running in the tray and see if it happens anymore.

I thinnk i found the culprit -- it was porn king's download plus. it was a background process, but it wasn't showing up in my system try. So far I don't seem to be getting the pop-ups anymore.

That's one possibility. Another is that the pop-up ad is a Windows Messenger Services ad -- try this:
