How do you get Doubly Digital to work in Windows Media Player 9?
Hi, I have bought a new sound card and some new 5.1 surround speakers. My intention was to enhance my movie watching experience. I can not seem to get Doubly Digital to work in the Windows Media Player 9. The DTS options are greyed out (Windows Media Player->Tools->Devices->Speakers). I have tried to switch the Speaker Settings (Control Panels->Sounds and Audio Devices->Speaker Settings->Avanced) to 5.1 surround and then back to no speakers (just to mess around). This does not seem to change a thing for me. Are these features non-functional in the intial operating system? Does Doubly Digial simply not work in the windows media player with dvds?
I have also tried updating all my audio drives and direct x to 9.0a. The audigy software is all installed.(The creative software should solve this problem on its own) Surround is working for me only in games.
So have I missed something? Is this a joke or some bug in my system?

What speakers are they? Not all 5.1 speakers are digital and support dolby digital.

How can be so sure of this when I can't even switching the speaker mode to 5.1 surround (Sounds and Audio Devices) and it doesnt even do anything. Shouldn't this do something? When I mess around with the modes there seems to be no difference when I switch to no speakers from 5.1 surround. I would think if there are no speakers that I shouldnt any sound coming out of my speakers. I don't maybe the windows media problem isn't associated with the fact that the speaker setting in sounds and audio devices is not able to be switched.
Speakers: Altec Lansing AC 5100
I played a dvd movie and get a digital signal out of my front side speakers. =/ I can't switch the speakers settings the windows media to doubly digital because the DTS modes are greyed out. Is there any way enable them or do I have buy dvd softare that supports since windows media player and the sytem settings are so bugged out. This is rediculous.
What other dvd programs for windows xp could I buy that would support this sound format?
