.. and it's not because they got tired of having a webpage...
This was the notice on 3DChipset's site:
We had to close 3DChipset.com due to a person or persons who have nothing better to do then launch DDoS attacks at us. Our host dropped us like a bad habit. As of now we took 3DC offline and are working on a new revision. We have a possible new host in the works and hopefully that turns out very well.
3DChipset is not leaving. This can happen to anyone. It is amazing to know that running a small script can crush a website.
Man, these DDoS attacks are becoming pretty rampant. A grim reminder of what an immature mind(s) can accomplish.

These little kids don't realize what they are doing. They are crippling their own future.
Man a year ago I was still aiming at working with an online company when I graduate. Now I might not even take Comp Sci as my major.

An interesting read. I see (from first hand experience) how many people go into hacking. I saw some of it at the University level in the computer dept, and I see some of it as a High School teacher. I know from past talking to a few students that they are into hacking. I warn them, but it generally (if always) falls on deaf ears. It is all to easy to hack the Internet. That is why I do not do any personal banking, nor store any personal info that could be damaging on my HD’s. I use McAfee firewall, install all the patches etc…in order to deter those who would use my bandwidth for criminal acts. You guys are right, online businesses involving electronic bucks, or use of credit card numbers on the Internet are not secure and should be stayed away from. This is why I chuckle at all the demises of the Dotcom businesses. They based their business on a block of Swiss cheese. They failed to understand that the Internet is good at what it does, but it was not a new frontier for businesses to do business as if they opened a new chain of stores across the country. Even with the higher levels of encryption, data is not safe. There is nothing that someone somewhere with enough time, cannot crack. I am not paranoid. It is the truth. If a human mind can think of it and use a machine to build it, another mind can use a machine to take it down. The sad part of all this is that they are hurting everyone with these DoS attacks.
