I can't connect to battle.net

I'm having major problems trying to connect to battle.net for Warcraft III version 1.06. The situation is kind of complicated so try and bare with me . I'm running a wireless network from my laptop that runs off to my brother's laptop. Both laptops have Warcraft III on them (both with different CD keys). Warcraft III works fine on both of them but for some reason I can only connect to battle.net on my brothers laptop. When I try to connect to battle.net on my laptop, the same message always appears, "You may be trying to connect to an invalid battle.net server. If you are using a modem to connect to the internet, you have to manually connect to the internet before connecting to battle.net," errr something like that. I'm pretty sure that my firewall for windows XP is off (the box to activate the firewall is unchecked).
I'd like to know how I can solve this problem and connect to battle.net on my laptop. One more thing: I'm not sure if this is a problem but my laptop runs a no-cd patch b/c it won't read the wc3 cd. Thanx for your time.
My laptop's Specs:
1.6 gHz Pentium IV
516 RAM
64 meg GeForce4
My bro's laptop's Specs:
1.4 gHz Pentium IV
32 meg GeForce3 (i think)
316 RAM

err ok i figured out that no-cd cracks don't work for battle.net. sooooo scratch that entire "situation" i previously posted. I have a new problem though. After I successfully installed Warcraft 3, I tried to run it and it keeps on saying that the cd isn't in the drive. Why does this happen? I'm running Windows Xp just to let you know.

Did you check Blizzard's suggestions on this issue?

i'm not sure what blizzard means by installing Warcraft III on the second drive. My laptop only has a CD-RW/DVD drive and a floppy drive.

They meant if you had the option available to you, as in, if you happen to have a secondary optical drive. Check for updated firmware for your optical drive, BIOS updates, and new chipset drivers. Good luck.
