Tomb Raider - The Movie

It's classy. It's cool. It's a frag fest.
This movie is great. It has a simple plot that isn't boring. I enjoyed it alot and think it's gonna make a lot of money. Don't bring the little kids since it's rated PG. The people frag each other and don't really get emotional about it. There isn't a lot of blood, which is nice. And they even had a small casting call for some MOBS.
I would rate it above any of the Batman movies without all of the darkness. Who knew Lara Croft had such depth. 
Speaking of Lara Croft, aka Angelina Jolie, it looks like they tried to put a Star Trek bra on her.  It seems to work ok though. Don't worry. She was perfect for the part. As a matter of fact, I enjoyed some of the small details of the movie that weren't over-stressed.
On a personal note, (not that the above wasn't personal), my wife was born and raised in the same area as the movie's ending scene. And I'm not going to give any part of the movie away by posting that location here.

If I go see this movie, it's because I think Angelina Jolie is cool. The previews make the movie look fake. At least that goofy robot she was shooting.
I'll wait and see what others think. Then I might give it a try.

Well, from the previews…I think I will wait for it to come out on video tape. Most people I think, are sick and tired of seeing or hearing about Tomb Raider, or Lara Croft. The movie does seem like a mindless action flick though, and probably will gross nicely at the box office.

I dunno.
I'm not much of a fan of either of them, TR or AJ, but if me buying a ticket somehow helps in the development of thief 3 or deus ex 2, I'll buy 6 or 7 of them.
I will NOT however, go and subject myself to another attempt at edios to milk lara for all she's worth.

just exactly what are you supposed to do with a CASH COW?
I have read many of the reviews and a lot of them decry the mindless violence and suggest that the FPS crowd will love
the movie while the rest will wonder what the big deal is. As for me, I love the big deal and wonder what the movie is.
(*wonders if there would be a market for a script about Mr. Diablo Goes to Washington)

Hmmm...that got me thinking....I wonder how many people will go to the local theater and not realize the movie was based on a video game...lets face it, there are still people who don't own a computer, or if they do, don't do any gaming. Just a scary thought.

yeah but tomb raider is mainly a console game.
and it has a bunch of tv commercials so the majority of people will realize who and what it's about.

na hehe i played deer hunter 4 yesterday well my cusin was and i said lemme play 2 mins of playing and i shot a deer hehe he was in the water swimmin so i just pulled out gun and blasted him heheheeh

About this Tomb Raider movie... JANNA- you are right, Tomb Raider games are among the worst around. God they suck. Anyways, I have a bad feeling about the movie. Something about it tells me it sucks and I cant quite put my finger on it. I just see the comercials and say "damn, thats gotta suck" The thing that gets me- why the hell would I want to go see a movie about a video game that I can play? I dunno- whenever I see a cool movie, I always think of how to make a cool game around it. I have the greatest idea for a "Boogie Nights" game, but I wont share that here. Anyways, my point is this- games that are cinema-like (MGS) are popular. That is because you are controlling a movie (kinda). Now why would I want to go and take something that I could controll (a tomb raider game) and take the conrol away? I dunno- I'd rather just play the game (not a TR game because they all suck)
Well, I just realized that to all of you- that bit of rambling wont make much sense. Im sorry. I think what I was saying is that I'd rather play a game than watch a movie.
btw- the boogie nigts game would be caled- "boogie nights- dirk's giant adventure" It would revolve around Dirk Diggler as "Brock landers" and his partner "Chest Rockwell" They would team up to stop a christian prayer group out to end pornography. The gameplay would be a mix of Driver (psx) Final Fantasy (psx) and old school River City Ransom (nes). Basicaly- you would drive around to funky 70s music and kick ass. Of course you would have to stop and talk to people to get clues and do various side quests. Also- keep in mind, this is a work in progress- you might even be able to more than 2 people in your party, a la final fantasy.

Hey! I just like doing movie reviews.
Is there anyone with an opinion that has actually seen it yet? LOL
I've never played the game or even seen it played. But, the movie has a passable script and was done well.
It does make want to frag everyone though.

on further thought Tomb Raider has the feel of a movie that i wont actually see till it hits the rental shelf heh that or Vin and i get REALLY bored

Kdr Kane, that is exactly it! You nailed it right on the head. That was the reaction most people had when playing Tomb Raider 1-101 (it seemed that they went that high ). It made people extremely violent that they wasted their hard earned money on it. Then they would forget, and buy the sequel, and the vicious circle would start all over again. Hmmm….if the movie follows the game..then we can expect at least 4 or 5 movies. It will be much like the Police Academy series…

sometimes, for fun sake, there are times when my mind is tired of having to rethink everything i see over just to make sure i fully get it, i'd like to see a mindless, simple storied, full of wham bam explosive noise and pretty girls and stupid foes being fragged around by the hero.
would you seriously suggest this movie for me ? i think it's one of those times again
saw the preview and i think it's a simple action movie that is perfect as a candidate 
will try to get my girlfriend to see it with me when it plays here hehe...

Well, yes. I am definately recommending this movie. It's made to be seen in the theatre.
