Internet Explorer/XP problem

Hi,

I’m running XP and recently uninstalled Internet Explorer. When I try to install a new version of it I get a message telling me that the version on my computer is already newer than the one I’m trying to install from the Microsoft update site. I can’t uninstall it from Add/Remove programs because it doesn’t appear in there. I also cannot uninstall it from my programs menu. Can someone please tell me what I should do to fix this problem?

The version that I now have won’t let me into any secure sites.

Thank you.

try system restore, choosing a recent earlier day, before you attempted to uninstall internet explorer.

Thanks, I have tried that and didn't have much luck.

Put the xp cd back in and install it from the cd. Do not click on install win xp, click on additional options and install it from there.
