im askin everyone and was wondering if you could help
i have an athlon 2600+ on a windows 2kpro machine but my system freezes when the processor is clocked at the speed of a 2600+ but when its clocked down it doesnt freeze. Could you tell me why?

This sounds more like a hardware issue than a software one. You might get better results asking in the hardware forum. But I will hazard a guess that the CPU might not be getting adequate cooling to run at the proper bus speed.

MY system has a vantec fan that keeps it at under 100 farenheight so its
not a cooling issue. But if anyone has any other ideas

This is a known issue with XP processors. I've actually had it happen to my old 2600.

You need to apply some thermal grease. Even if you have a decent fan, you still need a conductor. The paste that comes with the CPU should be enough, but there better alternatives out there (I.E. Artic Silver).

Thanks for the reply but i have already done that. And it still didnt work
but if i didnt have greese my comp would freeze even when its clocked down right? Any other suggestions ??
