I changed a Win2k Pro's networking from using a domain to using a new workgroup and rebooted. Now when I try to startup and put in the password that I used in the other setting I'm not able to login. What's going on and why can't I login ?

Well, when on a domain, the authentication server (not the local computer) verifies the username and password. On a workgroup (which is a peer-to-peer network), the local machine authenticates you, so you must use a valid account that has been setup on the local machine.

By indicating the desired network (local or specified workgroups which may or may not have a domain controller) on the login screen, you can select either the local machine or the domain. Please verify this and make sure you select it to the local machine.

Usually there is a local administrator account by default, so try logging in with that account or any other local account you may have created.
