Frame Rate w/ XTASY 9100

I have two systems. One is a WIN98, Katmai P3@500mghz, 384megs SDRAM VOODOO5 AGP (64mb).
The other system is a WIN ME, K-6 Athalon 3dnow, 256megs SDRAM, ATI XTASY 9100 PCI by Visiontek (128mb).
The K-6 gives 20 fps when in town and standing still... multiplayer or single in Direct Draw and D3D modes. If you so much as flinch it drops well below ten fps and begins skipping frames.
The P3 system produced a steady 65+ fps in glide, 25-35 in D3D mode with my OLD VOODOO 3 (16mb). Frame rates with the upgrade to a tweaked VOODOO5 were amazing in Glide mode: 246 fps at rest in wilderness and 120 fps at worst. The other modes (DD and D3D) gave 75-35 fps.
I realize I am taking a few shots from the PCI card and the K-6.
I am also aware of the fact that the VOODOO supports the best API to run D2 in... Glide. The ATI doesn't. But 5 Frames a second! Other games play smoothly on the K-6 system.
Has any one had any luck with a Glide wrapper for the ATI XTASY 9100?
I have seen something on the web about tricking the vid test to add glide to the video mode options. The wrapper I tried didn't show up on the vid test after I extracted it to the system folder and ran the "configurator"
The ATI is set to best performance in every option.
