Not compatable With Direct X?

Well, I tried to reinstall Direct X, and i installed and unistalled warcraft about like 20 times, but the same error keeps applying that my system is unable to detect Direct X 8.1 even though my system has a 9.0a. I have a Ge-Force 4 MX 440 so I dont think that's the problem. However, I am missing an installpathX from the Warcraft Registry?...Would that have anything to do with it? As well when i run the Direct X tests, they all pass besides the Direct 3d that fails. If anyone needs further information or that can help will be greatly appreciatied since im in a stuck situation here.
