LPT port not detected

well, i built my computer about a month and a bit ago, and i just now wanted to connect my flash advance cartridge to my pc with the printer port linker. I hadn't yet done this on the new PC, so I installed all the software, but it wouldn't work. After trying a bunch of different things, I went into the device manager to check out the port, but it wasn't there. All that was under "Ports (Com & LPT)" was Com1 and Com2.
What do you think is the problem? Defective mobo, bad install, what?
btw, some specs:
ASUS P4C800 deluxe
WinXP corp

If its never worked... could be the mobo.... but it sounds like a config problem to me.
Remove the software and try again.

it's not any particular software...unless you mean XP. its that it doesn't show up in the device manager. Defective mobo is the only thing i can think of. I guess it's okay, now that everything is USB.
Any other ideas?

Aha, I fixed it. I was cruising my BIOS and under onboard devices, I found parallel port set to "disabled". Now seriously, Why the hell is ASUS shipping mobos with disabled LPT ports as default?
