Help with D1 update

I got the d1 update and now when I try to get into diablo I get this error message
Direct sound error (C:\Src\Diablo\Source\Sound.CPP:375) The parameter is incorrect.
I tired everything in the update notepad (Trouble shooting 2. sound section C)

Try updating your version of Direct X. Or at least try re-installing it if you have the latest already.
You can grab the latest version from www.microsoft.com/directx

I downloaded it and ran it, but after it was complete it told me that this version does not support my processor, does this mean my computer can't run diablo? and if so why can I run other things like Half-life and Starcraft?
