DSL Sharing Home Networking

First Time to do home networking. I want to share my DSL service between to computers through a NetExcell 4-port Cable DSL Router Switch. The primary computer with the DSL Account is working properly through the router. The second computer won't ping the router or the primary computer. It has a Linksys Ether16 10BaseT LAN Card PnP. Need help with the second computer's LAN Card and step by step to network the two computers. I know this is alot, but I am a dummy at this point. I have been all over the setup, configuration, and windows tabs so if you mention it I know at least where you are at. Both systems are Windows 98/SE

Ok, Robert, let's run you through.
First, get a cross-over CAT 5 cable with RJ45 ends and plug one end of that into the jack of the router that's labeled "WAN". Then plug the other end of that cable into your DSL modem ethernet jack.
Second, get a straight through CAT 5 cable with RJ45 ends and plug one end of that into the jack of the router that's labeled "1". Then plug the other end of that cable into one of your computer ethernet jack.
Third, get another straight through CAT 5 cable with RJ45 ends and plug one end of that into the jack of the router that's labeled "2". Then plug the other end of that cable into one of your computer ethernet jack.
That's the hardware setup.
Now go to Windows 98 SE and enable file sharing by right click network neighborhood, the left click properties and then check "enable file and printer sharing" or something like that. After that go to the driver/folder you want to share and then right click it and then left click on share. Then you can set up the password, write/read previliage stuff like that there.
